NBA Rumors: Philadelphia 76ers, Miami Heat, And Los Angeles Lakers Could Target Kyle Lowry This Summer

Kyle Lowry was the starting point guard for the 2019 Toronto Raptors championship-winning team, and he is a 6-time All-Star who will be hitting free agency this summer. Kyle Lowry averaged 17.2 PPG and 7.3 APG this year, and he will be a great point guard for a team that needs a mix of playmaking and scoring.

There will be many suitors for Kyle Lowry in free agency, as he is a veteran who could help any contending team. The Athletic’s Eric Koreen has revealed that the three contenders that inquired about Lowry at this year’s trade deadline to target him again.

Expect all three teams that kicked the tires on Lowry at the trade deadline to explore his availability once more. The Heat have the clearest path to acquiring him, while the Lakers’ contracts that they could move in a sign-and-trade are not overly desirable, although there is likely a deal to work out if both Lowry and the Lakers are deeply interested.

As at the deadline, the Sixers could still put together a nice package if they are so inclined. George Hill, Seth Curry and Tyrese Maxey combine to make about $20 million in 2021-22, a reasonable starting salary for Lowry. (Hill’s salary is only lightly guaranteed.) If the Raptors wanted, Curry and Hill would likely have value to other teams if the Raptors prioritize youth and future assets. If not, both are still on reasonable deals.

Kyle Lowry would help all three of those teams, and he would provide a veteran presence and championship experience for the locker room. As Kyle Lowry is reaching the latter stages of his career, it would be nice to see him on a contending squad once again.
