NBA Fans React To Edited Meme Of Kobe Bryant Moonwalking After His Free Throws: “I Wish This Was Real”

3 Min Read

As the internet has expanded itself into becoming a generator of hilarious content, the NBA fanbase has followed suit and bought into that trend. NBA fans often come up with some of the most hilarious and creative content in the world.

Whether it be hilarious images, memes, or videos, the NBA community knows how to make itself and others laugh.

Fans often look back to the 2015-16 NBA season as the most memorable in recent memory.

Whether it be the Golden State Warriors’ record-breaking run or the incredible 3-1 Cavs comeback in the 2016 NBA Finals, fans hold that season in high regard.

But perhaps no moment was as big as the final game of Kobe Bryant’s career. At the beginning of the season, Bryant had announced that he would be hanging up his sneakers after a legendary 20-year career.

Kobe had been dealing with significant injuries in the years before his decision. So walking away from a Lakers squad that was in rebuild mode seemed like the obvious call to make.

For a legend like Kobe, fans thought the entire season had to be perfect. But with a young Lakers squad that didn’t have enough stars to contend, that just wasn’t going to happen. But Bryant delivered an All-Time classic in his final game.

In his last NBA game, Kobe turned back the clock in front of a packed Staples Center. Kobe dropped 60 points on the Utah Jazz, delivering his final moment in the NBA in classic fashion.

Popular daytime talk show Ellen celebrated Kobe’s retirement by adding a little flair to his last free throws, editing it to make it look like Kobe moonwalked and danced through his free throws.

The clip was posted to r/NBA by u/OutlandishLaziness, and the Subreddit seemed to enjoy this throwback, with many reacting hilariously to the video.

As much as the moment was one to remember, that didn’t stop people from having their own fun with it. Moments like these are what fans live for, but they’re made even more hilarious when fans get to be creative with them.
