Kendrick Perkins Says The Lakers And Celtics Would Be A Great Fit For Damian Lillard

Kendrick Perkins has urged Damian Lillard to leave his current team and try his luck somewhere else. Unfortunately, Dame’s impressive performances weren’t enough for the Portland Trail Blazers to beat the Denver Nuggets.

The point guard tried everything to lead his team to the second round of the playoffs, but things didn’t click for them. Nikola Jokic, Michael Porter Jr. and Aaron Gordon took care of business at the Moda Center to eliminate the Trail Blazers in six games.

After Game 6 was over, NBA fans reacted to Portland’s elimination from the playoffs. Perk, however, went further and told Lillard to leave this situation and join one of the two maximum winners in NBA history. According to the former center, the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers are an excellent fit for the All-Star player.

“Hey, Damian Lillard, it’s time brother! You have done enough for that organization bro! It’s time for you to take your talents else where! The Lakers or Celtics would be a great fit for you. Carry on… IMOP,” the 2008 NBA champion tweeted.

Lillard admitted that the Blazers aren’t in a good position right now. Two years after reaching the Western Conference Finals, the team struggles to contend in the West.

“I mean, we didn’t win a championship, so obviously where we are now isn’t good enough,” Lillard said, via ABC News. “I don’t know what a shakeup looks like or what changes will be made or could be made, but obviously as is, it wasn’t good enough. We came up short against a team without their starting point guard and shooting guard [ Will Barton and Jamal Murray]. … Obviously, where we are isn’t good enough to win a championship if it’s not good enough to get out of a first-round series with two of their best three or four players not on the floor.”

These words could mean something good for the Lakers and Celtics. Still, knowing this player and how much he loves Portland, it’s hard to imagine him leaving the Blazers to join superstars in Los Angeles or Boston.

One thing is sure, the front office owes him a lot. They need to create the right team for Dame before he wastes the best years of his career on a solo mission that won’t bring a championship to Portland.
