Russell Westbrook On If His Triple-Double Record Will Ever Be Broken: “I’m Not Sure. I Guess We’ll See In Another 50 Years.”

Russell Westbrook just made history, becoming the triple-double king after logging 28 points, 21 assists, and 13 rebounds in the Wizards’ 125-124 loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Monday.

It was an excellent night for Russ, although his team failed to grab the W against a big rival. Nevertheless, the point guard was pleased with his 182nd triple-double, saying he was finally celebrating such a big feat.

Westbrook has normalized the triple-doubles, and that’s already big. The thing is that this isn’t easy, and we’ll have to wait a lot until we see somebody get close to his numbers. When asked if he believed somebody would ever break his record, Westbrook said we need to wait for that.

“At this point, I’m just trying to take it all in myself, honestly,” Westbrook said, via WRCBtv. “I guess we’ll see in another 50 years or so. I don’t know.”

This was a big feat and Russ made it look easy, which isn’t the case. He’s just a very passionate player that always gives 100% in every possession, and that passion took him to this point.

“It’s just a blessing,” Westbrook told reporters after the game. “You put so much into the game. You put (in) so much time. You sacrifice so much. To be able to be mentioned with guys like Oscar and Magic and Jason Kidd, those guys, it’s something I never dreamed about as a young kid growing up in LA. I’m truly grateful for moments like this.

“Normally I don’t like to pat myself on the back, but tonight I will just because I’m so grateful for the ones before me and so blessed and thankful for the man above for allowing me to go out and do what I do. I take this job very seriously.”

In a season where he’s been criticized, Westbrook has demonstrated he is the man and can turn things around for his team. The Wizards are now fighting for a play-in spot, led by Brodie and Bradley Beal.

As long as they have the triple-double king and the scoring title candidate, the capital team will always be a problem for the rest of the league.
