The Boston Globe

The Boston Celtics have had a pretty up-and-down season. With amazing highs and miserable lows, things have certainly not been easy for the up-and-coming Eastern threats.

But tonight, Celtics fans celebrated after their biggest star, Jayson Tatum, dropped 60 points (tied for the franchise record) in a 32-point comeback against the Spurs.

Jayson Tatum leads the Celtics to an INCREDIBLE 32-point comeback against the Spurs:

60 (!!!) points,
8 rebounds,
and 5 assists.

All over Twitter, people were raving about the performance, including fans, media members, and players.

The Boston Celtics just completed the season’s biggest comeback (32) in OT as Jayson Tatum not only sets his career-high points in a game (60), but ties Larry Bird for the most points scored in one game in franchise history. Take a damn bow.

All in all, it was a historic performance for Tatum, who showed tonight why he’s among the greatest young players in the game.

Of course, the Celtics star has been putting on a show all year long. This season, he’s averaging 25.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game on 45.5% shooting. He also made his second straight All-Star appearance.

As for Boston, they’ve still got a ways to go before they’re knocking anyone out of the Eastern Conference playoffs.

Inconsistent play and poor chemistry have resulted in a rocky campaign, and there is no quick fix.

But with Tatum (alongside Jaylen Brown and Kemba Walker), the Celtics will always be relevant, and they’ll always have a chance. We’ll see how far they’ll be able to go soon enough, and if this latest statement win will set the tone going forward.
