NBA Analyst Explains Why Jamal Murray’s Injury Came At The Worst Time For The Denver Nuggets

Jamal Murray’s injury was absolutely devastating. Jamal Murray is one of the most promising young players in the league and showed himself to be a solid playoff performer last season in the bubble. Injuries are a part of any sport, but it is especially painful when a promising young player goes down with an injury, possibly affecting their career.

A player getting injured can carry many ripple effects, and possibly alter a franchise’s future. As such, the Denver Nuggets’ window to compete for the championship could potentially be altered. Recently, NBA Analyst T. J. McBride detailed why Jamal Murray’s injury came at the worst possible time from the franchise’s perspective.

There simply is not a worse time for Murray to have a significant injury if that is the case.

Denver has two years to pay both Porter and Gordon. Then Jokic’s contract is up after that.

For the rug to be pulled out from under them *now* is devastating. Injuries fucking suck.

It seems that the key here is the contract situation in Denver. The Denver Nuggets might not be able to keep the entire core together, which could be detrimental to their chances at an NBA title. Hopefully once Jamal Murray comes back, they could make a run in the playoffs. The Denver Nuggets are still a very promising team with an MVP candidate in Nikola Jokic, and hopefully, the Denver Nuggets can still build a team around him. Perhaps Jamal Murray will return stronger than ever, and all we can do now is wait.
