Jimmy Butler is known as a hard worker and serious player on the court, but he is also someone with a sense of humor. Jimmy Butler’s media appearances often show his comedic side as he is talking to reporters, and his recent media appearance after the Miami Heat win against the Portland Trail Blazers was no different.

Jimmy Butler funnily roasted former teammate and friend, Derrick Jones Jr., in the post-game conference. When asked about why the Miami Heat’s defense has become elite this year, Butler suggested that it was because the Miami Heat let Derrick Jones Jr. go. The remark was obviously made in jest, as Derrick Jones Jr. is known around the league as a solid defender, and Butler is clearly trying to have some fun.

We got rid of Derrick Jones Jr., got his a*s up out of here, and started guarding somebody.

Jimmy Butler is a player who has been misconstrued by countless people in the past. On some other franchises, Jimmy Butler was viewed as a negative influence. Sometimes what players say is misrepresented, and that is no different for Jimmy Butler. However, the simple fact is that Jimmy Butler often jokes around about things. Jimmy Butler has a great camaraderie with his current and former Miami Heat teammates, and his remark about Jones was clearly intended to be taken in a humorous manner.

Hopefully, the Miami Heat’s defense manages to bring them to the NBA Finals once again. Defense wins championships, and the Miami Heat were very close to getting the job done. Perhaps this will be the year that the Miami Heat can surprise many people, and show how good they really are.
