The Warriors Curse: A List Of Injuries In The Last 24 Months

The Golden State Warriors were once at the top of the basketball world, but now, a team with prime Stephen Curry is struggling to stay in a position to contend for the play-in tournament. While some of the issues are to do with roster construction, there is another thing that has hampered the Golden State Warriors’ ability to contend this season. This issue was prevalent towards the end of the dynastic run: injuries.

In the last 24 months, the Golden State Warriors had many key players on their roster suffer devastating injuries. They have been barraged with injuries to key players one after the other. Recently, Hoop Smart shared a list of all the injuries that the Golden State Warriors have suffered during the last two years. While some of these players are no longer on the roster, the graphic also shows how terrible the Golden State Warriors’ injury luck has been.

Klay Thompson hasn’t played since the 2018-19 Finals, and his multiple injuries have been devastating for the Golden State Warriors in the last two years. Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson suffered some devastating injuries during the 2019 NBA Finals, playing a part in the Golden State Warriors losing the series. Injuries are a part of any sport, but it is insane just how many crucial injuries the Golden State Warriors have suffered. The most recent one is the meniscus injury to their 2020 No. 2 pick, James Wiseman. This will cost James Wiseman important developmental minutes, and force the Warriors to play more small-ball in this crucial stretch for their season.

While the Golden State Warriors are in a bad position currently due to injuries, Stephen Curry has been doing his best to bring the team to the playoffs. Hopefully, after this season, the Golden State Warriors can make a run when everyone gets fully healthy: with their core 3 still together, they still have time to win another championship.
