When the Brooklyn Nets assembled Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, many were ready to hand them the crown at that very moment. As two of the NBA’s best scorers, it was always going to be hard for any opponent to beat them, especially over the course of a seven-game series.
Of course, the Nets didn’t stop with just those two. Over the following weeks and months, Brooklyn went on to acquire several other All-Stars, including James Harden, Blake Griffin, and (most recently) LaMarcus Aldridge. After the most recent signing, fans around the NBA community expressed their resentment:
41 All Star appearances on the Brooklyn Nets right now.

Lmfao. This is getting ridiculous. All just to try and beat a 36 year old LeBron James ππ https://t.co/lUVIqOxb9l

On Instagram, things got pretty heated as well…

Obviously, the Nets are the NBA’s biggest villain right now. A team as stacked as them is going to attract a lot of criticism and hate for not only disrupting the balance of power, but also for the idea that their players took the “easy way out.”
No matter your opinion on the Nets and the decision by their stars to band together, it’s clear this squad has shaken up the NBA in a huge way — and none of us were really prepared for it.
