Robert Horry Says Karl-Anthony Town And Anthony Edwards Are A Mini Version Of Kobe Bryant And Shaquille O’Neal

The Minnesota Timberwolves have been used to landing first-overall picks lately. Sadly, tho, they haven’t been able to make the most of them, making just one playoff appearance since they drafted Karl-Anthony Towns.

Now, they have one of the most promising and entertaining players in the league in Anthony Edwards, and they look poised to land another top-3 pick at the end of this season, meaning that they could have quite the bright future ahead of them if they make the right moves.

But more than that, former NBA champion Robert Horry believes that they already have something quite special on their roster, going as far as to say that Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards are the miniature Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant.

“If you look at this duo, it’s like a miniature Shaq and Kobe. (…) When you play with guards that are as good as him and bigs that can cause double-teams – and you make each other better. So, (if) Edwards learns how to play this game and becomes a better ball-handler and outside shooter, and KAT can understand that he’s bigger than most guys, take some time in the post and when that’s not working step up outside and shoot the three; this team could be one of those futuristic teams that we always talk about,” Horry said on ESPN’s The Jump.

Well, that’s a bit of a reach from Big Shot Bob right there, as Towns will never be the dominant defender Shaq was and hasn’t shown that competitive drive either. As for Edwards, there’s no denying that his upside is through the roof.

Towns and Edwards already showed glimpses of what they could do together when they combined for a whopping 83 points in a win over the Phoenix Suns and they could be good for many years to come if the Timberwolves manage to keep them on the team.
