NBA Rumors: Brian Scalabrine Says The Boston Celtics Want Harrison Barnes

The Boston Celtics have been pegged as one of the teams who will likely make a trade before the trade deadline in order to better support their young superstars, Jaylen Brown and Jayston Tatum. The Boston Celtics need a veteran presence in the locker room, someone who can perform fairly consistently and help their young stars develop.

One of the people that the Boston Celtics have been linked with is Harrison Barnes of the Sacramento Kings. Barnes is an experienced veteran who has won a championship with the Golden State Warriors. He could make a difference in the Boston Celtics’ season, and he knows what it takes to win at a high level. Recently, former Celtic Brian Scalabrine has stated that Harrison Barnes is the primary target for the Boston Celtics at the deadline.

"The Celtics want Harrison Barnes …. Don’t listen to all the smoke and mirrors about all these other guys."

The Boston Celtics have been linked with other players in recent memory, namely Nikola Vucevic and Jerami Grant. However, if Scalabrine is correct, then it is Harrison Barnes that is the true target. Harrison Barnes would clearly be a win-now move. Harrison Barnes provides good defense and supplementary scoring and would shake up the Boston Celtics’ roster. His best fit is on a contender, and in Boston, he could play in the playoffs, rather than languishing on a team near the bottom of the Western Conference.
