It’s been a tough couple of years for DeMarcus Cousins now. He went from being one of the best players in the league and one of the most dominant big men in the world to suffering multiple career-altering injuries and missing a lot of time.
That’s why he wanted to part ways with the Houston Rockets, as he realizes that the best years of his career are far behind him and he must join a contender right now if he wants to win an NBA Championship before it’s all over.
Then again, it was pretty tough for John Wall, who was teammates with him at the University of Kentucky and wanted to make things work in Houston:
“It’s tough. I understand that it’s a business. But it’s very tough for me because that’s somebody I call my brother outside of basketball. I’ve been through injuries and he’s been through the same as me. We haven’t gotten a chance to play together since college. We really wanted the opportunity to do that,” Wall started, as quoted by Essentially Sports.
Then again, Wall claimed that he wishes him the best and hopes he finds another team rather sooner than later, understanding that it’s just business:
“I wish him the best of luck. I hope he can find a job very soon”, Wall added.
It would be great to watch both John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins coming back from such gruesome injuries to make the playoffs and even a championship run. Sadly, that wasn’t the case.
Wall is likely to be ‘stuck’ at Houston for the remainder of his mammoth contract, while Cousins will try to join a contender and make the most of the miles he’s still got left. But hey, who knows, maybe some years from now; they’ll still be around the league and fighting for a ring together, even if they’re playing limited minutes.
