Joel Embiid Says Marcus Smart Called Him A ‘Flopper’: “I Mean, Come On”

Joel Embiid wasn’t having any of Marcus Smart’s remarks about him after the Cameroonian big man went off on the Boston Celtics Wednesday night, dropping 42 points on Smart and co. to give the win to the Sixers, which continue to have a very good season so far.

At some point, Smart called Embiid a ‘flopper’ and the big man was quick to reply to him, telling Marcus that he should look in the mirror first before making those claims about anybody else. The Sixers took the W and Embiid made double prize with his comeback to the Celtics guard, per Derek Bosnar of The Athletic.

“Marcus Smart just told me that I flail a lot? Come on. I’m sure he knows himself and he knows his game. You know he does a lot of that,” the Sixers big man shared.

“The game is physical, other teams tend to try to be extra physical against me, and I guess I’m just smarter than everybody else…If you’re gonna put your hand up there, I’m gonna take advantage of it and I’m gonna get to the free-throw line,” Embiid continued.

Well, JoJo wasn’t having any of that and even though he didn’t deny he tends to flop during games, he explained that he uses the aggressiveness of his rivals in his favor. He finished the game with 42 points and 10 rebounds, as the Sixers beat a direct rival in the Eastern Conference.

They’re still the leaders of the East with 10 wins and 5 losses, while the Celtics are 3rd with 8 wins and 5 defeats so far this campaign.
