Incredibly, we’re just one week away from the one-year anniversary of one of the darkest days in sports history. Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna tragically passed away on January 26, 2020, and it just doesn’t feel real.
The Los Angeles Lakers and pretty much every single organization in the world have paid their respects to the Black Mamba and he’s become even more of an inspiration for those who got to know him or saw him play, but the days and months go by and we still can’t fathom it.
That’s the case with LeBron James as well, who recently opened up about not wanting to relive that day or trying to stay with that thought, claiming that he just wants to keep his legacy alive and make him proud with what he does on and off the court:
“I try not to take myself back to that position, that place, that timeframe. Obviously, he’s looking down on us, along with Gigi, just proud of what we’re doing as an organization. Hopefully, we continue to make him proud… I don’t want to live in the past. I definitely don’t want to live out that day again. It’s about always continuing to move forward and continuing to live on his legacy,” LeBron said.

We couldn’t have said it better. It was only fitting that the Los Angeles Lakers won the NBA Championship to honor Kobe, and they’ve surely made him proud with the way they’re competing right now.
The world lost one of its biggest icons, idols, and one of the most influential athletes of all time when Kobe left us, but his legacy, mindset, and spirit will forever be with us.
