Shaquille O’Neal, as usual, has been very active roasting NBA players in recent days. Added to his iconic roasts for long-time friend Charles Barkley, O’Neal has been giving his honest opinion on some of the matters happening in the NBA right now.

This offseason was very short for everybody but that didn’t prevent teams from making some raising-eyebrow decisions when it came to contract extensions. One of those was the Utah Jazz and their contract extension with French big man Rudy Gobert. They could have offered him the super-max extension but Gobert wanted to show his love to the team and agreed to a max contract extension. That was very surprising for the rest of the league and Shaq didn’t miss the chance to talk about that situation.

He sent a big message to Gobert, the Jazz and even the children around the world during a recent interview on the “All Things Covered” podcast.

“I’m not gonna hate, but this should be an inspiration to all the little kids out there,” said O’Neal. “You average 11 points in the NBA, you can get $200 million.”

That was really a big shot from Shaq but the 4x NBA champion didn’t stop there. Shaq doubled down on his comments recently, taking a big shot at Gobert again, explaining how things would go if he went against the Jazz center.

“I would had 45 pts, 16 reb, ten missed free throws in three quarters. He woulda had 11 pts, four rebounds and fouled out in 3 quarters. I’m a G,” Shaq wrote on Instagram.

It looks like this is escalating more than necessary. Gobert isn’t considered a player worth $200 million by a lot of people in the NBA but the Jazz aren’t a big-market team, they need to keep their good players as long as necessary. Of course, that decision was going to cause some surprise around the league but Shaq has taken things to the next level.

Prime Gobert wouldn’t have anything to do against Prime Shaq and that’s a fact, but the former player-turned-analyst wants to make it as clear a possible.
