Anthony Edwards was the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. As a No. 1 pick, all the expectations are there for him to be great. He is entering a situation where he has two All-Star teammates, so it should be easier for him to acclimate to the NBA. Defenses are far more likely to load up on Karl-Anthony Towns and D’Angelo Russell, leaving Edwards an easier path to scoring the ball.

Anthony Edwards himself agrees. When talking about the NBA with Jon Krawczynski, Edwards seemed to indicate that his experience suggested that he’d have no problem adjusting. Twitter page NBA Central reported on Edwards’ quote. He has no shortage of confidence.

"It's not that hard to be honest, coming out of being double-teamed in college. … Even if it's a lot of defensive attention, it's still easier. You can't double all game. We got too many shooters."

It seems that Anthony Edwards is enjoying his time so far, after putting up 15 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists in his NBA regular-season debut. Edwards was one of the few offensive weapons on a Georgia team that went 16-16 during his time in college, so it was obvious that he was going to be double teamed in college. It looks like Edwards is starting off on the bench this season. That should give him ample touches as he won’t be sharing the court with Towns and Russell as often, while still being able to gel and build chemistry with the two stars.

After his first game, Edwards looks promising as someone who could succeed in the NBA due to his innate scoring and bruising athleticism. The Timberwolves certainly hope so.
