Anthony Davis has committed to the Los Angeles Lakers for the long haul in recent days and Lakers Nation can’t be happier about it. AD played a key role in the team’s successful playoff run in the bubble and they want to do the same this upcoming NBA campaign.
AD signed a 5-year, $190 million with the Lakers last Thursday but most people believe he could have gotten a bigger deal for less time. Davis has finally addressed those comments and explained why he took that direction. The reason? His injury history, something that could affect him in the market like his former teammate DeMarcus Cousins in the past couple of years.
“That could have been a two-year, three-year deal. (But) I have to think about, also, the reality of things, too,” Davis told reporters, via ESPN’s Dave McMenamin. “I do have a little history with injuries, and a two-year deal, you kind of bet on yourself … God forbid, knock on wood, something happens.”
AD knows he’s appreciated in Los Angeles and they want him to be their star even when LeBron James is still part of the team. Davis loves where he is right now and he’ll be there for at least four more years. Last season he averaged 26.1 points, 9.3 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game while shooting 50.3% from the field and 33% from deep.
The Brow is one of the best players in the league and the Lakers want to take advantage of that as much as they can.
