It’s fair to say that Shaquille O’Neal is $100K less rich after a failed bet during โThe Match 3,โ a golf charity match that featured sports celebrities with fanaticism for the sport. The third edition of the event had NBA superstar Stephen Curry, NBA legend Charles Barkley, legendary golfer Phil Mickelson and NFL All-Time great Peyton Manning.
Seeing the quality of players we were going to see in this event, nobody wanted to miss it or put a couple of dollars on any of the teams fighting for the victory. Barkley and Mickelson were part of one and Curry and Manning were on the other side.
Shaquille O’Neal, Barkley’s co-host on TNT’s Inside the NBA, didn’t miss the chance to bet against his ‘nemesis’, admitting he had bet $100K on Curry and Manning.

This was completely understandable since the rest of the players involved in the event made fun of Barkley and his unorthodox swing throughout the week. It was a safe bet, or that’s what Shaq thought. Curry had some interesting plays, but in the end, Barkley and Mickelson took the W home, damaging Shaq’s plans to earn money off a Barkley’s loss.

Barkley had the last laugh on Friday, and he even sent a message for Jayson Tatum, who noticed he had improved his game on the course. Barkley replied he wanted to go against Tatum while reacting to the Boston Celtics’ young star’s new contract extension.
“I want Jayson Tatum. He had no competition down in the bubble. He had Steve Smith and C-Web (Chris Webber), that’s no competition,” Barkley said. “I want Jayson Tatum. He just got all that money too. Woo, that’s a lot of money, Jayson Tatum.”

It was a good match, Chuck got his win and ruined Shaq’s plans. A pretty good deal for him.
