John Wall Criticizes Today’s NBA Players: “Guys Be Too Friendly.”

John Wall is not an admirer of how NBA players have acted recently, being too good with one another instead of competing with everything they have, even trash-talking their rivals. Wall is a competitor and he doesn’t feel the need to have ‘best friends’ in the league since he’s there to compete and win not to make personal relationships. That is what he revealed during an interview on former teammate Gilbert Arenas’ “No Chill with Gilbert Arenas” podcast.

The talented point guard made it clear that he doesn’t like the way some players act when they are around others, reminding everybody that during the 2000s and 90s, things were very different between players.

“A lot of guys be too friendly now,” Wall said during a recent interview. “(Earlier) they weren’t friendly, they trying to rip each other head off. Now it’s like guys buddy-buddy.

“I ain’t got no friends.”

That is certainly true. Back in the day, players weren’t afraid to go at it, to do anything they could to get under their rivals’ skins and that has changed a lot in the past couple of seasons. He explained that as competitors, you have to compete with everything you have and that includes not seeing your rival as a friend. You have one job and one job only: winning basketball games.

Wall is returning this season to the league with the Wizards. However, the picture doesn’t look that promising for them. They have Wall and Bradley Beal, one of the best backcourts in the league but nobody expects too much for him.
