NBA Rumors: Miami Heat Could Land Russell Westbrook In A Blockbuster Trade

The Miami Heat are in a great position right now, after reaching the NBA Finals for the first time since 2014 and their fans can’t be happier. They weren’t considered candidates before the start of the season and now they’re the biggest surprise of the league, alongside the Denver Nuggets. They have assembled a very good team with Jimmy Butler as their leader and they could still add more pieces to their already good roster.

With Jimmy Butler leading the way, the Heat have done impressive things this season and if they want to improve this performance, one NBA analyst has thrown the idea of the perfect trade for the Floridians. Jake Rogers of NBA Analysis Network has suggested how the Heat can land Houston Rockets guard Russell Westbrook this offseason.

To do so, the Heat would have to part ways with Tyler Herro, Duncan Robinson, Andre Iguodala, Kelly Olynyk, and send a 2020 first-round pick, and a 2022 first-round pick to the Rockets, something that Rogers believes can be beneficial for both teams.

“Westbrook heading to South Beach would make a lot of sense. He would add the lethal scoring threat that could propel the Heat to the top of the Eastern Conference. Miami would also get a couple of second-round assets to utilize in either trades or selections for themselves. As for the Rockets, moving on from Westbrook won’t happen unless they get talent back. Tyler Herro is a lethal scorer and could pair nicely in the back-court with James Harden. Olynyk, Iguodala, and Robinson would all be much-needed depth and talent around Harden.”

The biggest question is if Westbrook would bring his best form to South Beach, something that didn’t happen in Houston. Brodie struggled to find his best shape in the bubble and a change of air could be what he needs. Miami would create a Big 3 with Russ, Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo.

On the other end, the Rockets would get a lot of good pieces to put around James Harden. Tyler Herro and Duncan Robinson are becoming two of the best shooters in the league, Iggy could be very helpful on the defensive end as well as Olynyk. This is just an idea and Westbrook has been linked with several teams over the past couple of weeks. Nobody knows what will happen with the Rockets this offseason, but this is a pretty good option for them if they want to get rid of Russ’ hefty contract.
