Giannis Antetokounmpo has become one of the best and most famous players in the NBA at this moment. The Greek player has just won the MVP and DPOY awards, becoming the third player in history to win both prizes in the same season, alongside Michael Jordan and Hakeem Olajuwon. Although his performances in the playoffs are something he needs to work on and improve, the 26-year-old has been a terrific player in the regular season.

He went from being extremely poor to win millions in the NBA to become a big figure beyond the game of basketball. His latest achievement came in the form of being named part of TIME’s 100 most influential people list with celebrities, politicians, business and other sports figures. Obviously, this is a great feat for the Greek Freak and he hasn’t stopped receiving big praise from other basketball legends.

Congratulations to @Giannis_An34 on being named to the @TIME 100 Most Influential People list!!#TIME100 | https://t.co/Hilc9X5bXz pic.twitter.com/Uy2rzujK88

Another Milwaukee Bucks idol, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, had some big words for Giannis, calling him a ‘sports hero’ for his game and his advocacy for social justice in the US and abroad.

“Giannis Antetokounmpo, who just won a second straight NBA MVP award, has all that and more. To watch him play is to see not just what is, but also what is possible. There is some mystical quality that quickens a fan’s heart when they see that person walk onto the court. The true sports hero makes our bones vibrate and flesh ripple in anticipation of witnessing greatness,” the Bucks icon wrote.

"I once asked Giannis Antetokounmpo (@Giannis_An34) what his name meant, and he told me 'the crown has arrived.' It certainly has," Kareem Abdul-Jabbar(@kaj33) writes #TIME100 https://t.co/VbCqnd5Ewo

Giannis has become a big figure in the basketball world. He has yet to deliver in the postseason but there is no doubt that he is one of the top names in the association. It’s only a matter of time before he becomes an NBA champion to cement his legacy as an All-Time great. He has one of the best life stories in the league and seeing how much he’s achieved in 26 years is remarkable.
