The Best Free Agents For The Los Angeles Clippers Right Now

The Los Angeles Clippers are the team to beat in the Western Conference, at least in the paper. Yes, the Los Angeles Lakers are most likely going to clinch the 1st seed but that’s not going to mean a thing considering homecourt advantage won’t be a factor this year.

  • CJ Miles
  • Jamal Crawford
  • Gerald Green
  • DeMarcus Cousins

Doc Rivers will finally have plenty of chance to see Kawhi Leonard and Paul George fully rested and practicing together. There will be no more load management and that kind of team at full strength is a scary thought for the rest of the league.

Still, the Clippers should take no chances this time. They have the best shot in franchise history to finally make it to the NBA Finals and win their first-ever Championship. So, now that the league is allowing teams to add reinforcements, let’s take a look at the 5 guys they should consider signing to be even better once the season resumes:

Corey Brewer

Corey Brewer hasn’t been in the league for over a year but he’s expressed his desire to make a comeback several times. He’s a never-ending source of energy coming off the bench and his outstanding backcourt defense would be handy for them.

Brewer wouldn’t be needed to score with Lou Williams and Montrezl Harrell next to him, so he could only focus on getting stops and harassing the opposing side’s top scorer. They’d be an even scarier defensive team with his addition, for sure.

CJ Miles

CJ Miles was waived by the Washington Wizards and he’s not exactly the youngest player you could fetch in free agency. Still, the Clippers could use another scoring threat from beyond the arc and he’s as good as they come in that regard.

Miles could come off the bench and in some specific sets when needed of a three. He’s a career 35.8% shooter from beyond the arc and not so long ago was considered one of the biggest specialists in the league. He’s a one-dimension player at this stage of his career but they just need him to do one job.

Jamal Crawford

We all saw Jamal Crawford at its finest under Doc Rivers’ tutelage. He’s just too good to be out of the league regardless of his age and should have the chance to win an NBA Championship before finally retiring from competitive basketball.

Crawford may not be needed considering they already have Lou Williams and Reggie Jackson to lead the offense off the bench but you never have too many scorers in your team. This guy is a walking bucket and can still score in bunches, they know it.

Gerald Green

Gerald Green Houston Rockets Playoffs

Gerald Green was balling with the Houston Rockets before suffering a heartbreaking foot injury that ended his stint with his hometown team. He was supposed to be sidelined for 6 months so he should be fully recovered by the time the season resumes.

Green is a never-ending source of energy. He’s never going to be outhustled as he’ll always want to put on a show and get people off their feet. He’s also a streaky shooter that can get hot from three-point territory in the blink of an eye, so he’d be a solid fit for their system.

DeMarcus Cousins

NBA Rumors: DeMarcus Cousins Keeping Tabs On Kawhi Leonard To The Lakers

DeMarcus Cousins was reportedly thrilled and grateful for the way the Lakers treated him during his rehab process. Still, he could try and get back at them for giving up on him too early this season by joining their city rivals and pursuing an NBA Championship.

Cousins is the ultimate low-risk / high-reward pickup for any contending team in the league right now. They can ease him back into the game and convince him to extend his stay with the team. Also, with Montrezl Harrell hitting free agency next season, he’d be a great insurance policy.
