NBA Rumors: Warriors Could Select Tyrese Haliburton Over LaMelo Ball

2 Min Read

Much has been made about the Warriors’ upcoming lottery pick. With the right move, they could acquire yet a young superstar to pair alongside their Championship core.

For the longest time, LaMelo Ball has been turning our heads and he seemed like he was on the Warriors’ radar as well. But, according to new information revealed by USA Today‘s Warriors Wire, the Dubs may be higher on Iowa State star Tyrese Haliburton than the Ball brother.

“He’s an elite passer who takes sound shots and can play off the ball when necessary. On defense, Haliburton has the length and athleticism to defend multiple positions. I’ve been told that he has emerged as the No. 1 point guard on the Warriors’ board — yes, above LaMelo Ball and Killian Hayes.”

As a sophomore, Haliburton is averaging 15.2 points, 6.5 assists, and 5.9 rebounds on 50.4% shooting.

The Warriors want a guy that will fit their current regime. Considering Haliburton’s skill set as a passer and two-way player, it seems like he’d be an ideal piece for the team — even more so than Ball.

Of course, we have yet to find out where the Warriors will land in the next draft or if they’ll even keep whoever they pick. Needless to say, they have a lot of options going forward, and they seem intent on exploring all of them.

Either way, Dub Nation is back.
