The New York Knicks aren’t having the best time for quite some time now and things don’t look to get better for the New Yorkers, who have found themselves under the fire once again. The latest case involves the ongoing protest in the US following the killing of George Floyd a couple of days ago.

When everybody around the league raised their voice to blast the police officers involved in the death of Mr. Floyd, the Knicks decided to remain quiet amid huge protests across the country. According to Pablo Torre of ESPN, this didn’t sit well with Knicks players and employees, who are reportedly furious over the situation.

“I’m told that Knicks players and employees are furious that the team hasn’t made a public statement about George Floyd. And I just obtained the e-mail that owner Jim Dolan sent to MSG employees today defending the organization’s decision to stay silent,” he wrote on Twitter.

“We know that some of you have asked about whether our company is going to make a public statement about the killing of George Floyd by a Minneapolis police officer,” Knicks owner Jim Dolan wrote. “I want you to know, I realize the importance of this issue. Therefore, I want you to understand our internal position.

“This is a turbulent time in our country. The coronavirus and civil unrest have taken their toll on our way of life. We at Madison Square Garden stand by our values of respect and peaceful workplace. We always will.

“As companies in the business of sports and entertainment, however, we are not any more qualified than anyone else to offer our opinion on social matters.”

James Dolan has been criticized for the way he’s managed the Knicks. The team keeps struggling without any sign that they can turn things around shortly. This won’t help his image, as everybody in the league has shown his support to the people asking for justice for Mr. Floyd.

Do not expect any public statement by the Knicks. Mr. Dolan isn’t interested in that, no matter how pissed his employees are.
