Paul Pierce loves to flash his 2008 Championship win whenever he can. It was the only one of Pierce’s career, but it was a special one, coming at the defeat of the Los Angeles Lakers — their all-time rivals.
It was also the very first season that Pierce got paired up with Kevin Garnett, who was traded in the offseason in a desperate attempt by the Celtics to get their name back on the map.
They would go on to play six seasons together in Boston, but every single one after 2008 gave them challenges they just couldn’t overcome.
But what if they would’ve teamed up earlier? According to The Truth himself, he and KG would have won several more Championships had they united before 2008.

The 2006 and 2007 Eastern Conference Champions were the Heat and Cavs, respectively. It’s hard to say whether or not a duo of KG and Pierce would have bested both of them, but they certainly would have stood a chance.

KG’s power and Pierce’s finesse was a pretty great match. Their games complimented each other perfectly. In his six seasons with the Celtics, Garnett averaged 15.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 1 block per game while Paul averaged 21 points, 6 rebounds, and 3.9 assists.
If only we could’ve witnessed just a few more seasons of their dynamic partnership.
