Even in year 22, LeBron James doesn’t skimp on his NBA pre-game ritual. Ahead of the Lakers’ game against the Thunder on Friday (in the NBA Emirates Cup), his full pre-game schedule was released by the NBA starting with his arrival eight hours before tip-off.

LeBron James, 39, is still one of the best players in the world, but it requires work to keep his mind and body up to speed with the current NBA landscape. As the years have passed, LeBron has had to slowly tweak and adapt his approach to changes in his own ability and changes to the game itself.
Tonight, James gave the world a tiny sneak-peak into how he pulls it off. Like most players, the King has a ritual before every game and his involves a lot of hours in the gym and on the court.
In his typical fashion, LeBron arrived ready to work at almost 4:00 PM EST. After changing into his gear and preparing his locker, James began preliminary stretches to warm up his body for the upcoming grind. He spent hours training, stretching, and preparing his body for another physical battle.
James didn’t take the court until almost 6:00 PM EST (2:45 Pacific Time), where he changed his shoes before putting up some practice jump shots. James continued getting shots p from around the court, starting from the logo before hitting the corner and then working in the low post. Toward the end of the clip, he even threw down one of his signature tomahawk dunks.
For anyone who has followed LeBron’s career, it should be no surprise to see how much work and discipline he puts into his game-day routine. He’s one of the first in the arena and works for hours in the gym and the court to maximize his performance for the game.
The commitment LeBron has shown to taking proper care of his body has allowed him to enjoy unprecedented longevity and it’s what’s keeping the Lakers in play for a potential title run.
This season, with averages of 22.9 points, 9.3 assists, and 8.2 rebounds per game on 50.3% shooting, James is once again playing elite-level basketball, and the Lakers are better for it this season at 11-7 (5th in the Western Conference).
After a win over the Spurs on Wednesday snapped their losing streak, the Lakers are desperate to keep the momentum going in a positive direction. A matchup against the best team in the West will give the Lakers a chance to prove themselves, and if they can secure another victory, it will set up the Lakers to compete for a top seed in the Conference.
Regardless of the results tonight, LeBron James is the key to everything for the Lakers, and as long as he’s playing up to his standards, they will always have a chance to pull off something special.
After the Thunder tonight, the Lakers have a day off before a game against the Utah Jazz at Delta Center at 8:00 PM EST. They travel to Minnesota to play the Timberwolves the very next night (December 2nd) in Target Center at 8:00 PM EST.
