NBA Rumors: Top 5 Best Destinations For Isaiah Thomas

It’s been a wild ride for Isaiah Thomas over the past 4 years or so. Right after the tragic passing of his sister, it’s all gone downhill for him.

  • 5. Dallas Mavericks
  • 4. Golden State Warriors
  • 3. Portland Trail Blazers
  • 2. Philadelphia 76ers
  • 1. Boston Celtics

Not so long ago, Thomas was the Boston Celtics’ go-to-guy. He was the league’s leading scorer in the 4th quarter and an All-Star.

Now, he was traded on a salary-dump deal to the Los Angeles Clippers, who are bound to waive him. However, he refuses to believe that he’s not able to contribute anymore and as a matter of fact, we agree with him.

Thomas could still prove that his heart-over-height kind of play could still be valuable for teams looking to add more firepower. But, which would be the best destinations for him? Let’s break it down:

5. Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks have something pretty good going on. Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis have balled out all season and they look like a lock to clinch a playoff berth.

Still, they could use some more scoring off the bench and Thomas would be a perfect fit for them. Rick Carlisle knows how to hide smaller guards on defense like he’s done with JJ Barea, so they should consider signing him.

4. Golden State Warriors

The Golden State Warriors are blatantly tanking. However, they could use a couple of players as they traded away four of their rotation players in the span of 10 hours.

Thomas would have a bright chance to showcase his talents and his ability to score in bunches on a team that doesn’t have any kind of pressure to compete, so it’d be good for him.

3. Portland Trail Blazers

The Portland Trail Blazers are trying to put together a run to clinch a spot in the playoffs, but injuries have taken a toll on their chances.

Thomas is a solid scorer and he could help them put some points on the scoreboard when Lillard is getting a breather. Carmelo Anthony already proved everyone wrong, so now it’s Thomas’ turn.

2. Philadelphia 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers traded for a couple of shooters in Alec Burks and Glenn Robinson III, but now that they’ve waived Trey Burke, perhaps they could make room for another scoring guard.

The Sixers have underperformed all year long, mostly because their players struggle to create their offense. Thomas doesn’t have any issue with that and he’s a solid three-point shooter, so he’s a good fit.

1. Boston Celtics

Isaiah Thomas became a fan favorite at the TD Garden and he truly cherished his time there. They dealt him away on the Kyrie Irving trade, but he’s repeatedly stated that there aren’t any hard feelings about that.

Thomas could take his career back from the ground on the very same place he became an All-Star and his instant offense and energy off the bench would be great for Brad Stevens’ team.
