Jaylen Brown got off to a red-hot start in Sunday’s game between the Boston Celtics and the Minnesota Timberwolves. Brown scored the first 15 points for the Celtics by making his first five threes and the Timberwolves announcers Michael Grady and Jim Petersen couldn’t believe what they were seeing. A clip of their reactions to his shots went viral and Brown hilariously called them out for hating on X.

“Hating a** broadcast lol.”

It all began after Brown hit his first three-pointer.

“Jaylen Brown, who has not shot the ball great from outside the arc, knocks down that slot 3 right there,” Peterson said. “You look at his shot chart, Michael, it is not good. It’s not a green shot chart at all. It’s a lot of red and a lot of white. White is league average, red is under the league average.”

After Brown hit his second three-pointer, Peterson and Grady started getting a bit frustrated.

“Come on,” Peterson said.

“Career lows so far this season for Jaylen Brown,” Grady added.

“Literally from that spot on the floor, he’s 4-23 on the season, 17%,” Petersen said.

Brown then took a heat check, letting it fly from well behind the arc, and connected again.

“He just said ‘Take that with you, take that shooting chart,'” Grady said. “Oh my goodness.”

Brown then got an open three on the left wing thanks to an Al Horford screen and made no mistake.

“Unbelievable,” Petersen said. “Coming into this game, I go, literally I would give him that shot.”

Brown was feeling it at this point and drilled the final shot of that onslaught after iso-ing Rudy Gobert.

“7-27 from that part of the floor coming into this game, 25.9%,” Peterson said. “Unbelievable.”

Peterson should have just thrown that Brown shot chart in the trash after he made those first couple of threes. Sure, the 28-year-old has struggled with the outside shot this season (33.3% from three), but it was clear he was on course to have one of those rare good shooting nights.

Brown ended up going 7-10 from beyond the arc against the Timberwolves. He finished the game with 29 points, two rebounds, four assists, one steal, and one block as the Celtics won 107-105.

The Celtics followed up that close win by blowing out the Los Angeles Clippers 126-94 on Monday night. The defending champions have now won six in a row to improve to 15-3 on the season and, in my opinion, are heavy favorites to win it all once again.

Brown, the reigning Eastern Conference Finals MVP and Finals MVP, is a big reason for that. Some shooting struggles aside, he has been impressive yet again this season and is averaging 25.0 points, 6.6 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 1.1 steals, and 0.4 blocks per game for the Celtics.

Brown and the Celtics will take on the Chicago Bulls next at the United Center on Friday at 8 PM ET and I certainly won’t bet against them getting their seventh straight win there. It’s also an NBA Cup game and the Celtics can book their ticket to the knockout round with a win.
