The Risky Move That The Wizards Should Do This Season

John Wall has decided to shut himself down and have a season-ending injury to fix his right heel, and even though it may look like an excuse now that his team sucks, they still have over half of the season left to play.

  • 4. Trade Ian Mahinmi Somehow
  • 3. Trade Otto Porter for Expiring Contracts
  • 2. Trade Bradley Beal For Young Players
  • 1. Tanking To Get Top Pick

Even so, Wall is not the Wizard’s biggest problem right now (although his 170 million dollar contract extension is going to be a huge pain in the ass for them in the future).

Moreover, there are several issues they need to address. They need to clear cap space, pile up young assets, and just call it a day and flat out tank. Today, we’re going to let you know about the top 4 risky moves they have to do now.

4. Trade Ian Mahinmi Somehow

Ian-Mahinmi-1

Ian Mahinmi is still owed 16 million dollars a year for the next two seasons, so finding a team dumb enough to absorb his deal is not going to be an easy task, as they’re going to have to offer 2nd round picks to make the deal more appealing.

Mahinmi’s contract is one of the worst deals I can think of, as he doesn’t bring anything to the table on either side of the hardwood, he’s not young, fast, athletic, a good rim protector, or anything that could make me think he’s slightly worthy of that kind of money.

3. Trade Otto Porter for Expiring Contracts

Otto Porter’s development has quite stalled over the last couple of years, and I think we can all agree to the fact that he’s never going to be that good. Even so, he could bring a lot of firepower off the bench for a contender.

Also, with the Wizards wanting to clear as much cap space as they can, they would be wise to find some suitors that could send some expiring contracts in return for the sharpshooting forward.

2. Trade Bradley Beal For Young Players

Bradley Beal Could Become A Superstar Without John Wall

Bradley Beal has reportedly drawn a lot of interest around the league and it’s safe to assume that the Wall-Beal backcourt isn’t going to get the job done and take them to the Finals any time soon.

Beal is their most tradeable asset and some may even say their best player, so they should try and use him as a trade chip to get young studs like Lonzo Ball or Brandon Ingram on a blockbuster deal.

1. Tanking To Get Top Pick

Fadeaway World

This one’s a no-brainer. They were losing because they were bad, not because they were tanking, so they should just give up on this season and keep on losing all the way to the NBA Draft.

This class is really stacked at the top 10 spots, so they could finally land a franchise cornerstone that could put an end to their misery, a guy that could complement Wall and lead them to contention.
