5 Superstars That Could Join LeBron James This Summer

LeBron James is on the verge of losing yet another NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors, as not even his 50+ point performance was enough to get past the Dubs on game 1 and the next games don’t look quite encouraging either.

  • 3. Damian Lillard
  • 2. Karl-Anthony Towns
  • 1. Kawhi Leonard

Even though the Cavs went through a major roster overhaul and looked quite sharp afterward, it feels like LeBron needs way more help around him in order to succeed and win a Championship, as he’s never been able to win without top-notch help.

So, assuming he actually stays put at the Q, let’s take a look at top 5 superstars that could join LeBron James next summer in order to win another Championship before deciding to put an end to his great career.

Note: in order to make any of those signings possible, they need to clear some cap space by trading away JR Smith, Tristan Thompson and probably George Hill and Jordan Clarkson.

5. Paul George

Paul George has been closely linked with a move next to LeBron James this summer, as most rumors point towards both of them joining the Lakers, but the King could easily pursue one of his biggest rivals to join him at the Cavs as well.

George is an unrestricted free agent and will definitely look to play for a contending side, and he’d have a chance to finally rule the East next to James and even carry his torch after the King decides to retire.

4. DeMarcus Cousins

Top 10 Players That Will Remain With Their Team Next Season

DeMarcus Cousins has always earned a lot of praise from LeBron James and it’s been pretty clear that the King really admires his game, and he’d be the perfect guy to help him control his hard-nosed temper and get the best out of him.

Cousins is a lock to leave the Pelicans after he unfollowed everybody from the team on social media and even though he’s set to miss a great portion of the season, he’d be a major pickup down low for the Cavs.

3. Damian Lillard

There have been a lot of rumors pointing towards the Portland Trail Blazers quietly trying to explore the market for either of their standout backcourt players, and Lillard would be a prime Kyrie Irving replacement for James for sure.

Lillard has always thrived off-ball and would be a deadly scorer with James handling the playmaking duties, and the Cavs could get him if they put together a trade package including Larry Nance Jr, Cedi Osman, Jordan Clarkson, a future 1st round pick and the 8th overall pick of this year’s Draft.

2. Karl-Anthony Towns

It seems like Karl-Anthony Towns tenure with the Minnesota Timberwolves is coming to an end after the standout big man and coach Tom Thibodeau have had some altercations, and the team may explore a trade offer for him if it’s convincing enough.

Considering the Cavs may offer them Kevin Love back as well as Cedi Osman, a future 1st round pick and the 8th overall pick of this year’s Draft, the possibility of KAT joining James is quite high, and a huge bargain considering he’s still on his rookie deal.

1. Kawhi Leonard

And last but not least, the Cleveland Cavaliers’ prime trade target should definitely be the greatest LeBron stopper in the world: Kawhi Leonard, who they could get for the same offer of Love, Osman, a couple of future picks and the 8th overall pick.

Leonard knows how to stop the Golden State Warriors better than anyone and him being the best defender in the world, he could really take some pressure off Bron’s shoulder, as he’s already 33 years old and unable to come back on defense as fast as he used to do.
