Giannis Antetokounmpo isn’t satisfied with what he’s already accomplished. Even after winning two MVPs, a championship, and a Finals MVP, the Bucks star says his hunger for greatness hasn’t faded. Speaking with reporters, Giannis said his focus is on chasing legacy and doing whatever it takes to be remembered among the all-time greats.

“At this point, I’ve accomplished everything I’ve put my mind to,” said Antetokounmpo. “But no, I just want more. I want to win another championship, and I want to win another medal for the national team. Legacy is very important to me. I go to my house, and I think about what’s important to me, and every time I come to the conclusion that it’s legacy. Like what I’m gonna be remembered for, how I’m going to be one of the all-time greats. Just keep on stacking days, keep on being consistent and available, and good things will happen. But you have to play to win.”

Giannis is only a few years removed from his last title run (2021), but he’s itching to add more to his NBA resume. Fortunately, the Greek Freak has full confidence in the Bucks roster and says they have great potential as a team.

“I was in my bed and I was able to watch film. I see the potential that this team has,” Giannis added. “We can play fast, we’re athletes. We just have to move the ball, the ball cannot stick. We can space the floor, we have so much shooting and we’re gonna be better defensively. I believe we have to be a glue.”

With averages of 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game, Giannis Antetokounmpo tried everything in his power to carry the Bucks to contention last season but they couldn’t finish higher than fifth in the East at 48-34. That was with Damian Lillard, who was considered one of the best shooters in the game at the time. Their loss against the Pacers in the playoffs marked the third straight year they were eliminated in the first round.

The defeat created uncertainty around Giannis’ future, prompting the Bucks into action. This offseason, they made several roster moves, including swapping out Lillard for defensive big man Myles Turner. While he may not have the resume Lillard does, his skills on the defensive end make him a much better fit for the Bucks, who have been most successful historically with a strong defensive identity.

Of course, that’s only half the equation. On the other end, Giannis can do a little of everything for his team but he cannot be the only one to step up. Ball movement and floor spacing will be essential, meaning Giannis will have to lean on guys like Kevin Porter Jr., Kyle Kuzma, Gary Trent Jr., and Bobby Portis.

In a perfect world for the Bucks, this team would be enough to compete with the best in the NBA but they are still considered underdogs going into the 2025-26 season. After so much disappointment and failure, the Bucks will have to prove their place and Giannis is ready to shock the world.

Giannis Antetokounmpo has already cemented himself as one of the greatest players of his generation, but he isn’t done writing his story. Every season is another chance to build on his legacy and prove that his hunger for greatness still burns as bright as ever. If the Bucks can rally around his mindset and rediscover their defensive edge, it might just be the spark that brings them back to championship glory.
