In a guest appearance on the “Unapologetically Angel” podcast, Shaquille O’Neal went viral for an award moment with Angel Reese. In the exchange, O’Neal tells Reese about how many tickets she could sell in a dunk contest wearing ultra-tight shorts, like the same ones she wore at her guest appearance on the “Wild ‘n Out” show.
Shaquille O’Neal: “Imagine you in them same little shorts you had on at the Wild ‘n Out show dunking. Do you know how many T-shirts you’re gonna sell? Them same little shorts you had on at the Wild ‘n Out show!”
Angel Reese: “I’m not imagining… Alright, alright!”

The exchange came during a conversation about dunks in the WNBA and how Shaq wants to see more of them. According to O’Neal the biggest appeal to the WNBA right now is seeing the athletes do things we’ve never seen before and that includes throwing it down like some of the best in the world.
Of course, for Shaq, the ultimate appeal would be for Reese to dunk the ball while wearing her iconic Wild ‘n Out shorts, which barely stretched beyond the hips. O’Neal made the comments despite a 30-year age gap and previously referring to Reese as his daughter.
Shaq’s fantasy was not well received by Reese and you could tell she was slightly uncomfortable with how quickly she tried to move on. As many fans online noted, it seems like Angel thought of Shaq as more of a brother/father figure and she was caught off guard with his admission.
Of course, it doesn’t mean the Chicago Sky star isn’t used to this type of adversity by now. As a featured face of the WNBA, everyone has an opinion of Angel Reese and she’s become an expert at blocking out the noise and staying true to herself.
Last season, her first in the WNBA, Reese averaged 13.6 points, 13.1 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game on 39% shooting. She lost out on the Rookie of the Year to Caitlin Clark but she turned a lot of heads with her performance and is projected to be a face of the league for years to come.
Shaquille O’Neal has been in her corner the whole way through. He called Reese the “greatest athlete ever” to come out of LSU and has consistently defended her from the critics. As a former superstar big man in the NBA, O’Neal knows what it takes to succeed and he believes that Reese has the stuff to change the WNBA forever.
As for his fantasy about Angel Reese and the dunk contest, he probably shouldn’t hold his breath on ever seeing such an event. Despite her reputation and some of her past wardrobe choices, Reese prides herself on being a professional and she’s working hard to build up an empire in the world of sports and entertainment.
She won’t let Shaq, or anyone else for that matter, get in the way of her ambitions and she’ll do whatever it takes to protect her legacy.
