Caitlin Clark was named the unanimous Rookie of the Year yesterday, allowing her to join the likes of her Fever teammate Aliyah Boston among the few in history who have won the award unanimously. While many felt that the race for Rookie of the Year was intense, the voters clearly felt otherwise.
There were a lot of people who felt that Angel Reese should have won the WNBA Rookie of the Year, thanks to her breaking the WNBA all-time record for rebounds in a season. Unfortunately, due to her injury, she wasn’t able to build on her lead, reigning MVP A’ja Wilson broke her record, and even took a slight dig at her in the process.
When comparing the stats between the two, Clark was the clear runaway for the Rookie of the Year, as she led Reese in 10 of the 11 total statistical categories. This isn’t to take away from Reese at all, who had a fantastic season with the Sky prior to her season-ending injury.
Clark is a figure many expect to dominate the WNBA for years to come. After she left her mark on the collegiate game, Clark could very well establish herself as the greatest to ever do it in the WNBA when all is said and done.
