James Harden Surprised By Tribute Court Unveiling In China

James Harden's China tour has been greeted with a lot of excitement by the fans, but the unveiling of a court in honor of the Clippers' star has to be one of the more memorable events.

Los Angeles Clippers guard James Harden truly embodies what it means to be a global superstar. In his recent Uno tour of China with Adidas, Harden has drawn in huge groups of fans, and to the star’s surprise, Adidas also unveiled a tribute court in his honor.

From celebrating his legacy at malls to constructing a tribute court, the fans and the apparel brand pulled out all the stops.

The court features a full-length mural of Harden, an impressive work of art that surprised Harden as well.

Given the popularity of basketball in the country, several NBA players have been to China recently as part of individual offseason tours. D’Angelo Russell received a lot of attention as people lined up to meet him at a mall. Meanwhile, Harden’s teammate, Kawhi Leonard, is also expected to make a stop in China as part of his Asia tour and is expected to be joined by Trail Blazers rookie Yang Hansen.

However, the scale of excitement pales in comparison to Harden’s reception. The Clippers guard has garnered a lot of attention from enthusiastic fans in the country, who have come in droves to see him. Given the kind of treatment he has received in China, his status as a global icon is indisputable.

The 11-time All-Star saw a massive resurgence over the last season with the Clippers. After an underwhelming debut season with the team, Harden made an impressive turnaround, leading the team in Leonard’s absence and even securing a playoff berth.

In the 2024-25 season, he recorded an average of 22.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 8.7 assists, while shooting 41.0% from the field and 35.7% from beyond the arc. This performance was reminiscent of the Harden of old, a positive sight for the Clippers organization as well as the fanbase.

Expectations are high for L.A. heading into next season. Spurred by Harden’s decision to take a pay cut in the offseason, the Clippers have been able to make some key signings and trades to become a significantly more competitive team.

With some incredibly talented veterans joining the team, the Clippers are undoubtedly viewed as title contenders, despite criticism about their age.

The Clippers have a strong shot at success next season. Led by a capable star duo, L.A. could emerge as one of the top teams in the West. The biggest point of concern, especially with an older roster, is injury.

With Leonard being among the most injury-prone players in the league, the onus falls upon Harden to lead this team by example. Unfortunately, concerns about his health seem to be on the rise, as a recent clip of him at a training facility in China showed him appearing out of shape.
