John Wall, appearing on the ‘Knuckleheads’ podcast, made his pick for ‘Start, Bench, Trade’ among Stephen Curry, Kyrie Irving, and Damian Lillard. His choices revealed a deep respect for the unique talents each player brings to the court.

“I’ve got to start Kyrie, bench Steph, and trade Dame. Outside of D-Rose, Kyrie is the hardest person I’ve ever had to guard, bro. He has every shot in the book and makes shots like he’s 6’6″ or 6’7″.”

“Name something he can’t do on the court. It’s just up to him if he’s missing. Left-hand floater, right-hand floater, post-ups, catch-and-shoot threes, off-the-dribble threes—he’s got the best handle.” (43:43)

Wall chose to start Kyrie Irving, citing the sheer difficulty of guarding him. Wall’s admiration for Irving’s offensive arsenal is evident, highlighting Irving’s versatility and exceptional ball-handling skills, which make him a nightmare for defenders.

For the bench, Wall selected Stephen Curry. This decision underscores Wall’s recognition of Curry’s shooting prowess and impact on the game. Curry, widely regarded as the greatest shooter in NBA history, revolutionized the game with his deep three-pointers and off-the-ball movement. Wall’s choice to bench Curry suggests a belief in Curry’s ability to come off the bench and instantly change the dynamics of the game with his scoring and playmaking.

Wall’s decision to trade Damian Lillard might raise some eyebrows, given Lillard’s clutch performances and scoring ability. However, Wall’s explanation reflects a tough decision rather than a dismissal of Lillard’s talents.

Lillard, known for his deep shooting range and leadership, remains one of the top point guards in the league. Trading him, in Wall’s scenario, speaks more to the incredible talents of Irving and Curry rather than a lack of appreciation for Lillard.

Wall’s picks offer a fascinating glimpse into his perspective on three of the NBA’s elite guards. His insights highlight the unique strengths each player brings, emphasizing Irving’s offensive versatility, Curry’s game-changing shooting, and Lillard’s clutch performances. For Wall, starting Irving, benching Curry, and trading Lillard represent a difficult but thoughtful evaluation of their respective impacts on the court.

John Wall Names His Two Most Expensive Purchases

During his appearance on the ‘Knuckleheads’ podcast, John Wall shared stories about his two most expensive purchases, offering a glimpse into the lifestyle that comes with being a highly paid NBA star. Wall, who earned around $276.4 million during his NBA career, has made some extravagant purchases that he reflected on during the conversation.

“I’ve got two. I’m not going to the airport; I need a PJ. I don’t feel like flying first class. This is the dumbest thing ever.”

“I’m in Miami at the Rolls Royce dealership, and they have this Rolls Royce limo. I’m like, ‘Man, I’m going to take my kids to school in this one day,’ so I bought it. I took it to LA for the last All-Star game I was in, in 2018, and planned to ride around in it.”

“There was so much I had to do to fix it. Luckily, I got lucky and sold it, getting all my money back. I didn’t lose anything on it, but I bought it thinking, ‘I’m going to take my kids to school in this one day.'” (42:07)

The first major purchase Wall mentioned was a private jet. Wall highlights his preference for the convenience and luxury of private travel over commercial first-class flights. This purchase underscores the lifestyle of top athletes who prioritize comfort and time efficiency, even if it comes at a hefty price.

The second notable purchase Wall discussed was a Rolls Royce limousine. Wall’s spontaneous decision to buy the limo was driven by a vision of luxury and fun, imagining himself driving his kids to school in a unique, opulent vehicle. Wall’s experience with the Rolls Royce limo, however, didn’t go as smoothly as planned. Despite the challenges, Wall managed to sell the limo without incurring a financial loss.

These anecdotes highlight the extravagant but sometimes impractical nature of high-end purchases. Wall’s stories reflect both the freedom and the potential pitfalls that come with significant wealth.

While he enjoyed the luxury of a private jet and the idea of a Rolls Royce limo, he also learned about the complexities and responsibilities that come with maintaining such opulent items. Despite these lessons, Wall’s career earnings have allowed him the flexibility to indulge in such luxuries, adding to the colorful narrative of his life off the court.
