LeBron James recently criticized a California car company, Effortless Motors, for falsely claiming that he was their customer. The dealership posted a video on social media showing a Bugatti being loaded onto a truck, with a caption congratulating LeBron for trusting their business and labeling him their “biggest VIP customer.”

“LIARS!! I don’t know y’all and I don’t even have that car. CLOUT CHASERS.”

LeBron quickly responded to this false claim through his Instagram story, calling out the dealership for lying and labeling them as “clout chasers.” He made it clear that he does not know the dealership and does not own the car in question.

Following his post, many of LeBron’s fans inundated Effortless Motors’ social media with negative comments, echoing his sentiments and condemning the dealership for using his name for publicity.

Daniel Ubario, the owner of Effortless Motors, admitted in an interview with TMZ Sports that the post was a marketing strategy that gained unexpected attention. Ubario confessed that the dealership had never worked with LeBron and that the Bugatti in the video was not associated with the NBA star. He also mentioned that he had reached out to apologize to LeBron, but had not received a response.

This incident has sparked discussions about the ethics of using celebrity names without authorization for marketing purposes. While the dealership gained visibility due to LeBron’s massive following on social media, this kind of unauthorized endorsement can lead to serious legal consequences.

Celebrities have successfully sued companies for false advertising in the past, and Effortless Motors could face significant trouble if LeBron decides to take legal action.

LeBron’s swift and public rebuttal underscores the importance of honesty in marketing and the potential backlash companies can face when they engage in deceptive practices. The situation serves as a cautionary tale for businesses considering similar tactics, highlighting the risks involved in leveraging a celebrity’s name without their permission.

Shaquille O’Neal Buys Tesla Cyberbeast From Same Company That Posted Fake Ad About LeBron James

Shaquille O’Neal recently purchased a Tesla Cyberbeast from Effortless Motors, the same dealership embroiled in controversy after falsely claiming that LeBron James had bought a Bugatti from them. LeBron called out the dealership for its deceptive marketing on Instagram, sparking a backlash against Effortless Motors. Despite the controversy, Shaq seized the opportunity to acquire a vehicle he’s long admired.

Shaq’s purchase came on the heels of LeBron’s public criticism, which brought significant attention to Effortless Motors. The dealership, based in Riverside, California, faced heavy criticism for using LeBron’s name without permission.

They later clarified that the misleading post was the result of an intern’s mistake and issued an apology. This unintended publicity caught Shaq’s eye, prompting him to check out the dealership’s offerings.

O’Neal, who stands at an imposing 7 feet tall, often struggles to find cars that accommodate his size comfortably. Seeing the luxurious Bugatti mistakenly associated with LeBron, Shaq decided to contact Effortless Motors to see if they had a suitable vehicle for him. This led to his purchase of the Tesla Cyberbeast, a vehicle he had long wanted.

In a humorous twist, Shaq acknowledged the intern’s mistake but praised the outcome. He even posted on social media, thanking Effortless Motors and reassuring LeBron that it was all a misunderstanding caused by an intern.

Shaq’s purchase and subsequent social media post helped shift some of the negative attention away from Effortless Motors, highlighting the dealership’s ability to meet customer needs despite the initial faux pas. The Big Diesel, as he’s known, was delighted with his new ride, emphasizing that the dealership delivered a well-suited deal.

Shaq’s acquisition of the Cyberbeast also underscores his ongoing quest for comfortable, stylish vehicles that accommodate his stature. His public appeal to Elon Musk for a “big boy Tesla” in 2022 highlighted his struggles, making his recent purchase all the more satisfying.

Thanks to the unintended consequences of LeBron’s outburst, Shaq finally found a vehicle that fits his needs, turning a marketing mishap into a win for both the dealership and himself.
