Reggie Miller recently appeared on ‘The Mark Jackson Show’ to discuss his disdain for the Knicks and a notable incident during the playoffs. Miller’s animosity towards the Knicks is well-documented, stemming from his days as a player when he frequently clashed with the team and its passionate fanbase.

“This is why I cannot stand the Knicks, because to me they’re frontrunners… They think that they’re God’s gift to basketball.”

During Game 2 of the Knicks’ playoff series against the Indiana Pacers, Knicks fans chanted ‘F**k you Reggie,’ reviving memories of the intense rivalry. The situation escalated when Knicks player Josh Hart approached Miller, who was commentating the game, and relayed what the fans were saying. Miller recounted the moment:

“Where gasoline was poured on it is when Josh came over to me… I don’t think there was anything malicious. I think he was trying to be funny, you know?”

“But for him to, again, pour gasoline on it saying, because all you heard on the mic was him saying, F you. So people thought that he just came over to me and said, F you, which wasn’t the case. Why am I being dragged into the series? I’m here to work.”

After the Knicks were eliminated from the playoffs, Miller couldn’t resist the opportunity to troll the team and its fans. He recalled his reaction:

“I said Jalen Brunson you’re the best player in these playoffs. Congratulations, now and you’re Knicks can all go to Cancun and heal up. I’m not in the series. I had nothing to do with this series, but then I got dragged into it. I did my job. But again being frontrunners, there was no need for that. There was no need for it, but it is what it is.”

"This is why I can't stand the Knicks…They're frontrunners. They think they're god's gift to basketball…Where gasoline was poured on it was when Josh Hart came over to me…Think he was trying to be funny…'FU'…He shouldn't have come over & said that…"

Miller’s history with the Knicks is legendary. Indiana Pacers guard Reggie Miller put on one of the NBA’s most legendary performances, scoring 8 points in 9 seconds against John Starks and the New York Knicks in the 1995 playoffs. His iconic fight with Spike Lee, where he famously gave the choke sign, remains one of the most memorable moments in NBA history.

Reggie Miller averaged 18.4 points, 2.9 assists, and 2.8 rebounds in 67 games in the regular season. Against the Knicks in the playoffs, he was even more lethal, averaging 23.1 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in 35 games throughout his career.

This history only deepens the rivalry and underscores why Miller continues to have strong feelings about the Knicks.

Miller’s comments highlight the enduring nature of his rivalry with the Knicks and the deep-seated emotions that continue to surround their interactions. Despite his retirement, Miller’s legacy as a Knicks antagonist remains alive and well, fueled by moments like these that reignite old rivalries.
