The Dallas Mavericks are one win away from the NBA Finals after beating the Minnesota Timberwolves 116-107 in Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals. Fans were in awe of the incredible performances of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, as the superstar backcourt proved to the world why they’re the best duo in the NBA.

DeMar DeRozan hailed Luka and Kyrie.

Knicks forward Josh Hart called them the best closing backcourt ever.

Orlando Magic forward Paolo Banchero also hailed the clutch duo.

Fans joked about how Anthony Edwards was being sent to Cancun by the Mavericks duo.

Basketball media personality Kenny Beecham broke down how there’s no defensive scheme that can stop the Mavericks’ backcourt.

Fans pointed out Luka talking into a tired Edwards’ ear, harkening back to his iconic photo with Devin Booker from 2022.

More fans chimed in.

“Luka Doncic is the best player on the planet. If you think it’s anyone else you simply don’t know what you’re watching. What a dog.”

“A lot of people have to apologize to Luka and Kyrie. They are a perfect match together.”

“Luka Doncic is better than Nikola Jokic, idc what anyone says.”

“My guys just don’t give up man. This should’ve been an L given the circumstances and they just fought. “Ant” and “KAT” can’t lace Luka and Kyrie’s boots, man”

The Mavericks backcourt became the first duo to have simultaneous 30-point games for the third time in one postseason with their respective 33-point outings tonight. Doncic also set a playoff-high for steals with five this game. P.J. Washington showed up as their third star with a respectable 16 points and eight rebounds.

Anthony Edwards had his first good game of this series with 26 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists, but his fourth-quarter disappearance hurt the team. Karl-Anthony Towns disappointed with 14 points and 11 rebounds on the night, going 0-8 from three with the greatest shooting big man watching courtside.

The Mavericks Look Finals-Bound

The Dallas Mavericks will need to create the worst kind of history to not make it to the NBA Finals at this point, as no team has overturned a 3-0 series lead in NBA history. With the Celtics also enjoying a 3-0 lead over the Indiana Pacers at the moment, it seems the Mavericks will most likely matchup against Boston in the NBA Finals.

Nobody thought in October 2023 that the Mavericks were embarking on a season that would end up with them atop the Western Conference and heading to the NBA Finals. Matter of fact, not many would have said that about the Timberwolves either, so this is a season that has bent expectations at almost every step. The only likely outcome we’ve seen consistently play out is the Celtics cake walking through the Eastern Conference.

The Mavericks will be in trouble against the 64-win Celtics, who have put together an entire season of being a cut above the rest. They beat the Mavs in the two regular season matchups they had, so it’ll be a fascinating matchup. But with Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, the Mavericks are impossible to count out and are just five wins away from winning the second championship in franchise history.
