Patrick Beverley Had A Hilarious Response To Whether The Raptors Added “Any Dogs” In Trade With The Knicks

Patrick Beverley hilariously stated that the Raptors got some pups in RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley.

The last big move of 2023 saw OG Anunoby get traded to the New York Knicks. RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley headed to the Toronto Raptors as part of the deal, and Patrick Beverley recently shared his thoughts on the trade.

“I think it helps OG,” Beverley said on the Pat Bev Podcast when asked if either team got a dog. “… He around some dogs. (Jalen) Brunson and Julius Randle, they some dogs.”

Beverley says it is a win-win trade, but when asked if the Raptors added any dogs, he had a hilarious response, “Pups.”

Beverley thinks Barrett and Quickley can potentially become dogs. The 35-year-old had some praise for Quickley’s game too, as he stated he is tough. The Philadelphia 76ers guard appeared to take a shot at current Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic, though, as he believes they miss Nick Nurse.

As for the trade itself, it was a good one for both parties. It was time for a rebuild in Toronto while New York got a fine 3-and-D player who can help them win now. The Knicks have gone 4-0 with Anunoby in the lineup while the Raptors are 2-1 with Barrett and Quickley.

This dog question about the Raptors stems from Beverley’s previous comment on the team before this season started. When talking about their identity, the outspoken guard said there are no dogs on the Raptors.

“Who’s the dog of that team?” Beverley asked. “…I see Anunoby down a dark alley, I see (Pascal) Siakam in a dark alley I don’t feel threatened. That’s not disrespect for them.”

Such comments normally give teams bulletin board material, but the Raptors have been unable to make Beverley eat his words. They have played the 76ers thrice this season and lost every game, with two of those losses being by double-digits.

The new-look Raptors will get one chance this season on March 31 to get the better of the 76ers but I’d say a win is unlikely. Not because of Beverley, who is averaging 4.9 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 0.5 steals, and 0.3 blocks per game this season, but Joel Embiid.

Patrick Beverley Believes Joel Embiid Is On Track To Have The Greatest Season Ever

Embiid has been on an absolute tear this season and the big man remarkably averaged over 40 points and 10 rebounds per game in the month of December. Should he continue playing the way he is at present, Beverley thinks Embiid is on track for the greatest season ever.

“If he finishes this season the way he’s playing now, it would be the greatest season of a single player that’s ever played basketball,” said Beverley on his podcast. “That doesn’t make you the best big man in the league that makes you the best mutherf*cker in the world. Jo is in a world of his own and I don’t think it’s even close. I think it’s a toggle between him and the man [Michael Jordan]!”

Beverley is known to always hype up his teammates, so there is certainly a fair bit of bias. That’s not to take away from Embiid’s special 2023-24 season, as he is currently averaging 34.6 points, 11.8 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 1.1 steals, and 2.0 blocks per game.
