Rashad McCants sheds light on a less-discussed aspect of the NBA lifestyle, addressing how NBA players, often viewed as global stars with fame, wealth, and luxury, can inadvertently attract attention from girls and even become involved in romantic entanglements.

“Snipers. You at the game with your girl and you go to the bathroom and we see she by herself, by the time you get back we might have her number. Ball boy. Go get her. You see her right there? Yeah. No, no, no. Right there. Yeah. Get her.”

“That’s how it happens when you all of a sudden thinking, man, my baby, she had some, she want to go to some concert or something. She ain’t going to no concert. You got to be careful. And it’s social media now.”

“It’s Snapchat is hidden invisible DMs. It’s, it’s, it’s you don’t open up the picture all the way. It’ll, it’ll disappear. Like boy, what Drake is in DMs for little girls in Wisconsin and, and, and, and chicks that ain’t never been nowhere. And he go in there. Like you said, what happens after that? You can’t go down after Drake been in your DM.”

McCants humorously refers to these players as “snipers,” suggesting that they are adept at seizing opportunities when fans’ attention is momentarily diverted.

In his candid commentary, McCants describes scenarios where unsuspecting fans attending games with their partners might find themselves facing unexpected competition. The NBA player’s fame and allure could lead to fans’ girlfriends receiving attention during brief absences, such as a trip to the bathroom. He playfully advises his fellow players, including the ball boys, to be vigilant and capitalize on such moments.

McCants emphasizes the contemporary challenges exacerbated by social media, noting platforms like Snapchat with its hidden and ephemeral direct messages (DMs). The advent of social media has added a new layer to the dynamics, with players potentially reaching out to fans discreetly.

The former NBA player highlights the need for caution, warning partners to be wary of sudden changes in their relationships, especially when it comes to interactions with high-profile individuals. He humorously mentions the example of Drake, a well-known figure, sliding into DMs, and the potential aftermath for those who follow.

In essence, McCants provides a lighthearted but cautionary perspective on the dynamics between NBA players and fans, shedding light on the sometimes unpredictable and entertaining aspects of life in the spotlight.
