There is an old saying when it comes to NBA basketball that has aged like fine wine and remained timeless over the years. It goes, “A playoff series doesn’t truly begin until a team wins on the road”. This goes to show the importance of defending home-court advantage no matter what it takes in order to become a successful NBA franchise.

Whether it is the support of the fans or just simply the comfortability of being at home, these are 10 teams you never want to see with home-court advantage in any playoff series.
These are the NBA franchises with the best home records of all time.
30. Minnesota Timberwolves – 49.8% Winning Percentage
Overall Home Record: 669-698
As it stands today, the Minnesota Timberwolves are the only current NBA team with a losing record on their home court. They have a record of 669 wins to 698 losses for a winning percentage of 49.8%. In 35 seasons since joining the NBA in 1989-90, Minnesota has an overall record of 1,108-1,625 for a 40.5% winning percentage with 11 playoff appearances and no NBA championships.
Despite their poor overall record, the Timberwolves have had some successful seasons defending their home court. In 2002-03, Minnesota posted a franchise-best 33-8 record at home for a winning percentage of 80.5%. That Timberwolves team finished 51-31 overall and was led by MVP candidate Kevin Garnett with 23.0 points, 13.4 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.6 blocks per game.
As Minnesota made one of their 11 total playoff appearances, their run would not last long. They faced the tall task of facing the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round. While they put up a fight in the series, the Lakers would defeat them in six games, including handing Minnesota two losses on their home floor.
29. Memphis Grizzlies – 52.6% Winning Percentage
Overall Home Record: 592-533
The next team on our list at No. 29 is the fairly new franchise, the Memphis Grizzlies. In their 29-year history, Memphis has accumulated a 592-533 record on their home court. Overall, the Grizzlies have accumulated a 977-1,273 record for a total winning percentage of just 43.4% with 13 playoff appearances and zero NBA championships.
The Grizzlies had their best season in franchise history at home just last season in 2022-23, going 35-6 on their home court as they finished with a 51-31 record in total. Led by Ja Morant’s 26.5 points per game, Desmond Bane’s 21.5 points per game, and Jaren Jackson Jr’s Defensive Player of the Year campaign, Memphis cruised toward the NBA playoffs. Unfortunately, they ran into a motivated Lakers squad in round one led by LeBron James and Anthony Davis. The Lakers would defeat Memphis in six games and end their playoff hopes.
28. Charlotte Hornets – 52.8% Winning Percentage
Overall Home Record: 700-626
The Charlotte Hornets come in next on our list with a home winning percentage of 52.8% since their first season in the NBA in 1988-89. As a franchise, they have been a laughingstock of sorts, making just 10 playoff appearances with an overall winning percentage of 43.8% and no NBA championships to show for it.
The 1997-98 Hornets team put on the best performance in franchise history on their home court. This Hornets squad was 32-9 at home and finished with a 51-31 record overall. The 1998 Hornets were led by All-Star Glen Rice who averaged 22.3 points per game on 43.3% shooting from beyond the arc. In the NBA playoffs, their run would be stopped in its tracks by the Chicago Bulls who went on to win their sixth NBA championship led by the GOAT, Michael Jordan.
27. Los Angeles Clippers – 52.9% Winning Percentage
Overall Home Record: 1,131-1,006
The Los Angeles Clippers are another franchise who have suffered far more misfortune than not in their 54 seasons in the NBA. Despite their success on their home court, the Clippers sport just a 41.0% winning percentage overall with only 17 playoff appearances. The Clippers have appeared in just one Conference Finals series in their franchise’s history which came in 2021 against the Phoenix Suns.
The Clippers’ best years on their home court came during the Lob City days during the 2010s. In 2013-14, the Clippers went 34-7 at home, breaking their record from a season prior of 32-9. Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, and DeAndre Jordan led the Clippers to a 57-25 overall record that season and a berth in the NBA playoffs. Despite a seven-game series win in the first round, their playoff hopes would be dashed in the Conference Semifinals by the Thunder in six games.
26. Brooklyn Nets – 53.0% Winning Percentage
Overall Home Record: 1,011-895
The Brooklyn Nets come in at No. 26 with a 1,011-895 record on their home court since their inaugural season in 1967-68. In that time, they have recorded an overall record of 2,008-2,543 for a total winning percentage of 44.1%. In their 57 years as a pro basketball franchise, they have made 24 NBA playoff appearances along with seven ABA playoff appearances and even though they have two ABA championships, are one of the teams without an NBA championship to date.
Back in 2001-02 and 2002-03, the Nets matched their best seasons at home with 33-8 records in consecutive seasons. They were led by MVP Jason Kidd who is perhaps one of the greatest leaders of a team without having to be an elite scorer. Kidd would lead the Nets to back-to-back NBA Finals appearances despite having no 15.0 points per game scorers in 2002 and no 20.0 points per game scorers in 2003.
The Nets would fall to the Lakers in the 2002 NBA Finals and to the San Antonio Spurs in the 2003 NBA Finals. The team has not been back to the NBA Finals since that time and has not even advanced past the second round of the playoffs.
25. New Orleans Pelicans – 55.2% Winning Percentage
Overall Home Record: 473-383
The New Orleans Pelicans made their NBA debut in the 2002-03 season as the New Orleans Hornets. In 2013-14, they debuted as the Pelicans, a nickname they have continued to use through the present day. The Pelicans have recorded a winning record at home in their history with a 472-383 record. Overall, however, they sit well below .500 with a 794-915 record or a 46.5% winning percentage.
The best home team that the Pelicans franchise ever put together was in 2007-08 with a 30-11 record on their home floor. That season, they were led by MVP candidate Chris Paul who led the team with 21.1 points per game as well as 11.6 assists and 2.7 steals per game. David West also contributed with 20.6 points and 8.9 rebounds per game as they finished with a 56-26 record on the season.
After winning their division, New Orleans would defeat the Dallas Mavericks in five games in the first round of the playoffs. In the second round, New Orleans would find itself in a dogfight with the San Antonio Spurs. Although they would push the series to seven games, New Orleans would fall in Game 7 on their home court thanks to 26 points from Manu Ginobili.
24. Toronto Raptors – 55.9% Winning Percentage
Overall Home Record: 629-497
The Toronto Raptors are one of the newer franchises in the NBA as well. Making their debut in the 1995-96 season, the Raptors have won 55.9% of their home games but just 48.0% of their total games with a 1,080-1,170 record. They have made 14 playoff appearances in 29 seasons with one monumental championship win in 2019.
It was the year before that championship run that Toronto would record their best home record in a season with 34 wins and seven losses. In 2017-18, the Raptors finished with the best record in the Eastern Conference, winning 59 games and suffering just 23 losses. Despite their regular season success, their playoff hopes would be dashed the same way it had been so many times in the past. By a motivated LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in an epic four-game sweep dubbing the team from up north “LeBronto” for years to come.
23. Washington Wizards – 56.7% Winning Percentage
Overall Home Record: 1,387-1,059
Coming in at No. 25 on our list is the Washington Wizards with a 56.7% winning percentage at home over the last 63 seasons. Despite their home success, the Wizards have struggled as a team, winning just 45.0% of their games overall with 30 playoff appearances and one NBA championship way back in 1978.
A few years prior to their first and only NBA title in 1964-75, the Wizards, then known as the Bullets, would post a franchise record of 36-5 at home for an 87.8% winning percentage. That Bullets team would finish with a 60-22 record overall headed by coach K.C. Jones. Elvin Hayes led the scoring with 23.0 points and 12.2 rebounds per game while Wes Unseld anchored the defense with 14.8 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game.
This Bullets team was on a mission and breezed through the NBA playoffs taking down the Braves and Celtics en route to a berth in the NBA Finals. In that final series against the Warriors, the Bullets were no match for the play of Finals MVP Rick Barry. In a 4-0 sweep, Barry led the Warriors to a title with 29.5 points,4.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 3.5 steals per game.
22. Orlando Magic – 57.0% Winning Percentage
Overall Home Record: 783-589
The Orlando Magic have only been around a short while in terms of their existence as a franchise. Since 1989-90, the Magic have had a 57.0% winning percentage at home and an overall winning percentage of 46.8% with a 1,283-1,460 record. During their 35 seasons, the Magic have made only 16 playoff appearances with no NBA championships despite two trips to the NBA Finals in 1995 and 2009.
The 1995 team was the best in franchise history, boasting a 39-2 record at home during that dominant year that saw them finish with a 57-25 overall record. Led by Shaquille O’Neal with 29.3 points and 11.4 rebounds per game, the Magic cruised through the NBA playoffs. This included a shocking second-round win over the Michael Jordan-led Chicago Bulls in six games.
In the NBA finals, however, the Magic would run into the defending champion Houston Rockets led by legendary big man Hakeem Olajuwon. In that Finals, Olajuwon put on a clinic against O’Neal, leading his team to a four-game sweep of Orlando behind 32.8 points, 11.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 2.0 steals, and 2.0 blocks per game for his second straight Finals MVP performance.
21. Cleveland Cavaliers – 58.5% Winning Percentage
Overall Home Record: 1,259-892
The Cleveland Cavaliers are not known to be an overly successful franchise during their 54-year history but owning a 58.5% winning percentage on their home court doesn’t hurt. In their 54 seasons, the Cavaliers have recorded a 46.5% overall winning percentage with 23 playoff appearances and one monumental NBA championship run in 2016.
In 2008-09, the Cavaliers dominated on their home court with an incredible 39-2 record led by LeBron James in his first of four MVP seasons over the next five years. James averaged 28.4 points, 7.6 rebounds, 7.2 assists, 1.7 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game to lead Cleveland to 66 wins. In the playoffs, the Cavaliers would sweep both the Atlanta Hawks and Detroit Pistons to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals against the Orlando Magic.
Despite an evenly matched series, the Magic would prevail in six games thanks to the interior presence of Dwight Howard. In the series, both of the Cavaliers’ wins came on their home court while they lost both of their road games.
20. Sacramento Kings – 58.6% Winning Percentage
Overall Home Record: 1,649-1,165
At times, it has been a dark and lonely road for Sacramento Kings fans with an organization that went 17 seasons without a playoff appearance from 2006 through 2022. Still, a 58.6% winning percentage in home games is a bright spot for a team looking for their first NBA championship since the days of Arnie Risen and Bob Davies in 1951.
The season before their championship run in 1949-50 is where you will find their best home record in any season in franchise history. Then known as the Rochester Royals, the team went 33-1 on their home court during the 1949-50 season. They were led by Davies’ 14.0 points and 4.6 assists per game as well as Bobby Wanzer’s 11.8 points per game to a 51-17 overall record.
Unfortunately, the fun stopped there for the Royals who lost in the first round of the playoffs to the Fort Wayne Pistons 2-0 after defeating the Lakers in a one-game division tiebreaker.
19. New York Knicks – 58.8% Winning Percentage
Overall Home Record: 1,697-1,190
One of the most storied franchises in all of NBA history is the New York Knicks. Around since the inaugural days of the NBA in 1947-48, the Knicks have defended Madison Square Garden with a 58.8% winning percentage while also boasting an overall winning percentage of 48.6%. In their 78-year history, the Knicks have made 44 playoff appearances with two NBA championship wins in 1970 and 1973.
Although their biggest success was during the 1970s, it was the 1992-93 Knicks team that recorded the best home record in franchise history. The Knicks finished 37-4 that season at home and 60-22 overall to win their division. Patrick Ewing, their franchise cornerstone, led the way with 24.2 points, 12.1 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks per game on 50.3% shooting.
The NBA playoffs went well to start with series wins over the Pacers and Hornets to advance to the Conference Finals. As it usually did, their playoff run came to an end when they met Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls who dismissed the Knicks in six games en route to their third straight NBA championship.
18. Dallas Mavericks – 59.2% Winning Percentage
Overall Home Record: 1,031-710
The Dallas Mavericks made their NBA debut during the 1980-81 season and have become one of the NBA’s most supported franchises during their existence. The Mavericks have accumulated a 59.2% winning percentage at home over the last 44 seasons and a 50.5% winning percentage overall. In their 24 total appearances in the playoffs, the Mavericks have won one NBA championship in a magical 2011 season regarded as one of the most difficult championships in NBA history.
The Mavericks matched their best home record ever at 37-4 in both the 2004 and 2007 seasons. In 2004, Dallas won 52 games but fell in their opening-round series to the Sacramento Kings in five games. In 2007, MVP Dirk Nowitzki led them to 67 wins and the No. 1 overall seed in the West. In one of the biggest playoff upsets ever, the Mavericks would lose their opening-round matchup against the Warriors in six games thanks to Baron Davis, Stephen Jackson, and the “We Believe” squad.
17. Detroit Pistons – 59.3% Winning Percentage
Overall Home Record: 1,678-1,151
As we approach the upper half of NBA teams with the best home records ever, we come across the Detroit Pistons at No. 17. On top of their 59.3% winning percentage at home, the Pistons have a 47.4% winning percentage overall with 42 playoff appearances in 76 years. The Pistons have also captured three NBA championships in their history in 1989,1990, and 2004.
It was that 1988-89 squad, along with the 2005-06 team, that boasted their best record at home in a season at 37-4. The 1989 Bad Boys were the most feared team in the NBA at the time thanks to their brutal physicality led by Isiah Thomas, Joe Dumars, Bill Laimbeer, and Dennis Rodman. After going 63-19 on the season, the NBA playoffs is where they would make their mark.
Detroit’s playoff journey was not easy as Detroit had to defeat the Celtics, Bucks, and Bulls on their way back to the NBA Finals. In the Finals, things only got more difficult as they prepared to meet the Showtime Lakers dynasty. Detroit did not back down and dominated the series in a four-game sweep to become NBA champions for the first time. They were led by the backcourt of Thomas and Dumars with Dumars winning Finals MVP averaging 27.3 points and 6.0 assists per game.
16. Golden State Warriors – 60.4%
Overall Home Record: 1,718-1,126

The Golden State Warriors have won 60.4% of their home games dating back to the first season of NBA basketball in 1946-47. Overall, their winning percentage is 48.5% but the Warriors have been one of the most successful NBA franchises ever with seven NBA championships including four since the 2014-15 season.
No season has ever been better in franchise or NBA history than the one they had in 2015-16. Going 39-2 at home, the Warriors finished with an NBA record 73 wins overall led by unanimous MVP Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green. As the Warriors steamrolled the NBA, they found themselves struggling once the NBA Finals came along even after building a 3-1 series lead over the Cavaliers.
In one of the greatest upsets in NBA playoff history, the Cavaliers would erase the 3-1 deficit led by LeBron James and Kyrie Irving. The epic collapse provided the Warriors all they needed to go out and acquire superstar Kevin Durant that summer which led to two more NBA titles in 2017 and 2018.
15. Chicago Bulls – 61.3% Winning Percentage
Overall Home Record: 1,405-887

Both of these seasons they defended their home court fantastically en route to back-to-back NBA titles. In 1996, they defeated the Seattle SuperSonics in the NBA Finals followed by a defeat of the Utah Jazz in 1997. Jordan was named Finals MVP in both series for two of his NBA-record six awards.
14. Miami Heat – 62.1% Winning Percentage
Overall Home Record: 875-535
Although the Miami Heat have only been in the NBA since 1989-90, they have developed a culture and organization that is enveloped in one thing, winning basketball games. Along with their 62.1% winning percentage in South Beach, the Heat have won 52.6% of their games overall which has resulted in 24 playoff appearances and three NBA championships in 2006, 2012, and 2013.
Led by the Big 3 of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh, the Miami Heat would have their best season at home in 2012-13. An MVP season from LeBron James resulted in a 37-4 record at home as James averaged 27.1 points, 7.9 rebounds, 6.2 assists, and 1.9 steals per game. The Heat, defending their 2012 NBA title, marched toward the playoffs with all of the momentum in the world.
After going through the Knicks, Pacers, and Celtics in the playoffs, the Heat found themselves in a battle in the NBA Finals with the San Antonio Spurs. In an epic seven-game showdown, the Heat would prevail as back-to-back NBA champions. LeBron James was named Finals MVP for the second straight year with 28.6 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 7.4 assists per game.

Speaking of the ABA, the Pacers’ only championships came during that time as they won three of them but have failed to win a single NBA title since the merger in 1976.
The 1999-00 Pacers put on the best performance of any Pacers team with an impressive 36-5 record on their home court. Led by coach Larry Bird and the duo of Jalen Rose and Reggie Miller, the Pacers won 56 games that season with just 26 losses. The Pacers would advance to the NBA Finals after defeating the Bucks, 76ers, and Knicks in the NBA playoffs. Unfortunately, they ran into the dynasty Lakers led by Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant who defeated them in six games for the title.
The Pacers have failed to reach an NBA Finals since then despite two trips to the Eastern Conference Finals in the 2010s.
12. Houston Rockets – 62.6% Winning Percentage
Overall Home Record: 1,408-840
The Houston Rockets made their NBA debut in 1967-68, residing in San Diego for the first four seasons of their NBA tenure. Since their debut, they have won 62.6% of their home games as well as 51.5% of their games overall. They have made 34 trips to the NBA playoffs which has resulted in two NBA championships in 1994 and 1995 led by big man Hakeem Olajuwon.
Even with their two incredible championship runs, their best season on their home court came in 1985-86. That season, they went 36-5 at home and 51-31 overall. This team was led by the Twin Towers of Olajuwon and Ralph Sampson who averaged 23.5 points and 18.9 points per game respectively. They would make their way to the NBA Finals that season with wins over the Kings, Nuggets, and Lakers in the Western Conference playoffs.
In the Finals, the Rockets had the misfortune of going up against the Boston Celtics, widely regarded as one of the best teams in NBA history. The Celtics would defeat the Rockets in six games led by Larry Bird’s 24.0 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 9.5 assists per game.
11. Atlanta Hawks – 62.8% Winning Percentage
Overall Home Record: 1,762-1,044

Since 1949-50, the Hawks have won 62.8% of their games at home while also netting 49.4% of their total games in the win column. In 75 seasons in the NBA, the Hawks have made 49 playoff appearances with their only NBA championship coming in 1958.
Following that championship win over the Boston Celtics in 1958, the Hawks would post their best home record in team history at 28-3 for a winning percentage of 90.3%. MVP Bob Pettit led the way with 29.2 points and 16.4 rebounds per game on 43.8% shooting. After receiving a first-round bye, the Hawks disappointed in the NBA playoffs in their first playoff series against the Minneapolis Lakers. Milwaukee’s best record at home in a season came during their 1971 championship season. Led by Oscar and Kareem, the Bucks would go 34-2 at home for a 94.4% winning percentage.
During that same championship run, the Bucks protected their home court as well as any team could. They went 8-0 at home during the postseason defeating the Warriors, Lakers, and Bullets to become NBA champions for the first time in franchise history.

That would come during the 2012-13 season when they went 38-3 at home and 57-25 overall. Despite their success that season led by the likes of Ty Lawson and Danilo Gallinari, the Nuggets would fall in six games in the first round of the NBA playoffs to the Golden State Warriors.

6. Phoenix Suns – 65.6% Winning Percentage
Overall Home Record: 1,460-767
The Phoenix Suns have been in existence for 56 seasons from 1968-69 through the present day. During that time, they have compiled the sixth-best overall home record with 1,460 wins to 767 losses. Unfortunately for the Suns, even with 32 total playoff appearances and a 53.6% overall winning percentage, the Suns have yet to capture an NBA championship.
The 1979-80 season would mark the best season the Phoenix Suns would ever have at home. During that year, the Suns were led to a 37-5 record on their home court for an 88.1% winning percentage. Leading the way for Phoenix that season was Paul Westphal and Walter Davis who each averaged over 21.0 points per game and shot over 52.0% from the field.
After defeating the Kansas City Kings in three games in the first round of the 1980 playoffs, the Suns headed west to take on the Lakers. Unfortunately for them, they couldn’t protect their home court any longer and lost the series in five games. The Lakers would go on to capture the NBA title that season thanks to a rookie named Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
5. Portland Trail Blazers – 66.3% Winning Percentage
Overall Home Record: 1,422-722
Surprisingly enough, the team with the fifth-best home record in NBA history is the Portland Trail Blazers. With 1,422 wins to 722 losses, Portland has won 66.3% of their games at home in their 54 seasons in the NBA. Overall, they have won 52.9% of their games with 2,277 wins to 2,024 losses, making 37 playoff appearances and winning one NBA championship in 1977.
The best home season in Portland Trail Blazers history would come during the strike-shortened 1998-99 season. In 25 games at home, Portland would win 22 of them for an 88.0% winning percentage in games played on their home court and a 35-15 record overall. The Trail Blazers would be led to this historic record by five players averaging 11.5 points per game or better and the sixth-best defense in the NBA.
The Trail Blazers would continue their run to the Western Conference Finals where they met the San Antonio Spurs. Portland would find no way to compete with the eventual NBA champions as they were swept in four games and have failed to reach the NBA Finals since.
4. Utah Jazz – 68.4% Winning Percentage
Overall Home Record: 1,357-627
Another shocking result of finding the teams with the best home records in NBA history is the Utah Jazz coming in at number four. The Jazz have been an NBA franchise since 1974-75 and have won 68.4% of their home games during that time. Overall, they have won 54.2% of their games with a 2,153-1,819 record, 31 playoff appearances, and have yet to win an NBA championship.
The Utah Jazz had their best season at home during their dominant 1996-97 season. They won 38 of their 41 home games that season, finishing 64-18 overall on the year. Led by Karl Malone’s 27.4 points per game and John Stockton’s 10.5 assists per game, the Jazz made their way to the NBA playoffs as the Western Conference’s top seed.
The Jazz would make their way through the playoffs, setting up a meeting with the Chicago Bulls in their first NBA Finals appearance ever. Unfortunately for Utah, Chicago was armed with Michael Jordan, and the rest is history. Despite Malone’s MVP season, Jordan remained the best player on the court and defeated the Jazz in six games for his fifth NBA title and fifth Finals MVP award.
3. Boston Celtics – 69.6% Winning Percentage
Overall Home Record: 1,975-861
The Boston Celtics are one of the oldest and most successful franchises in NBA history. In their 78 years in the NBA, the Celtics have won 59.2% of their total games with 3,586 total wins to 2,467 losses. They are tied with the Los Angeles Lakers for the most championships, winning 17 titles in 60 playoff appearances.
The 1985-86 Celtics are widely considered to be one of the greatest teams ever assembled and their 40-1 record at home is evidence to that claim. The Celtics won 97.6% of their home games that year led by MVP Larry Bird and his 25.8 points, 9.8 rebounds, 6.8 assists, and 2.0 steals per game.
After winning 67 games in the regular season, the Celtics made their way through the Bulls, Hawks, and Bucks with a 12-1 record to face the Rockets in the NBA Finals. Bird would take control once again with 24.0 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 9.5 assists per game to lead the Celtics to the NBA championship in six games.
2. Los Angeles Lakers – 70.6% Winning Percentage
Overall Home Record: 2,000-834
There are just two teams in NBA history to have won at least 70.0% of their games at home. The Lakers are the only team to do it with 2,000 wins and 17 NBA championships to their name, making them the most successful franchise in NBA history to date. The Lakers have had many incredible seasons over the last 76 seasons, leading to a 59.2% winning percentage overall.
No season in Lakers history was more dominant on their home court than the one the Minneapolis Lakers put forth in 1949-50. That year, the Lakers would go 30-1 at home (96.8%) led by George Mikan’s 27.4 points per game, Jim Pollard, and Vern Mikkelsen who are legendary scorers in Lakers history.
That season, the Lakers would go 7-0 in the NBA playoffs en route to a berth in the NBA Finals against the Syracuse Nationals. The trio of Mikan, Pollard, and Mikkelsen would go 4-2 in the series, securing the Lakers’ second straight NBA championship led by 32.2 points per game by Mikan.
1. San Antonio Spurs – 71.8% Winning Percentage
Overall Home Record: 1,365-536
By percentages, the San Antonio Spurs have the best home record in NBA history. San Antonio has won 71.8% of their home games since entering professional basketball in 1967-68. Overall, the Spurs have won 58.5% of their games dating back to their ABA days and have secured five NBA championships since 1999.
Surprisingly enough, the Spurs’ best season at home came in a season where they didn’t even advance to the NBA Finals. In 2015-16, their 40-1 home record and 67-15 overall record were overshadowed by the historic 73-9 season recorded by the Golden State Warriors. That season, the Spurs were led to their 40-1 home record by Defensive Player of the Year Kawhi Leonard who also averaged 21.0 points per game to lead the team.
After advancing to the Western Conference playoffs, the Spurs made easy work of the Grizzlies in the first round, sweeping them 4-0. The second round of the playoffs would be their demise as a young and hungry Oklahoma City Thunder team took them out in six games, losing two of their three home games in the series. The duo of Leonard and Aldridge would combine for 50.0 points per game but it was not enough to overcome the duo of Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook who averaged 53.7 points per game in the six games.
