Shannon Sharpe is arguably one of the biggest fans of LeBron James in the world. Sharpe also lives in Los Angeles, where LeBron is playing for the Lakers, and decided to buy courtside season tickets to watch the team in action. However, he spent $300,000 to get access to 21 games this season and has only attended one game, as he told Chad Ochocinco.
“I spent $300,000 on a Lakers season ticket and went to one game. It was my daughter’s birthday… That was $300,000 for 22 games. I got 21 games and somebody else got 20 games. The whole 40 would’ve cost me $750,000. We have a lottery system, I pick a game, he picks a game.”
Ochocinco couldn’t believe Unc Shannon Sharpe spent $300K on lakers courtside season tickets & only went to 1 game 😭😭😭
Unc said it cost about $750K for the full 41 games 😮💨😮💨

The conversation between Sharpe and Ochocinco was hilarious, as Chad couldn’t comprehend Shannon spending that much money and not using it. It further shocked him to realize that everyone who has courtside tickets has that much money to spend, with Sharpe pointing out that everyone sitting courtside at a Lakers game is decked out in the fanciest watches and jewelry.
Sharpe did reveal he doesn’t go to many games due to his show with Ochocinco being recorded at night on Sunday, Monday, and Thursday. Hopefully, we get to see Sharpe back at the Crypto.com Arena, given his explosive participation in a scuffle with the Grizzlies last season.
Shannon Sharpe Squared Up To Fight The Grizzlies While Sitting Courtside
Sharpe has been seen at Lakers games plenty of times, especially last season. One of the times he went ended up becoming one of the biggest stories in basketball, as he instigated a scuffle with the Grizzlies, squaring up to Ja Morant, his father, Steven Adams, and Dillon Brooks during a tense game between the Lakers and Grizz. LeBron James even commented on the altercation and defended Sharpe for his involvement.
“I ride with Shannon 365 days — 366 on a leap year — 24/7. So that’s my guy. I always got his back. And he’s got mine. He can talk with the best of them, for sure.”

The fallout from the incident was severe, with NBA analyst Bill Simmons blasting Sharpe for getting involved and blurring the lines between media and players.
“Is there a Shannon Sharpe Precedent now for courtside behavior at NBA games? Can any sports TV personality instigate an in-game altercation with the opposing team + stay for the rest of the game? Like, can Kornheiser now do this at Wizards games? Can’t wait for the NBA’s ruling! I’m gonna take Kevin Wildes’ courtside to the 3/17 Lakers-Mavs game and see if he can get into an in-game screaming match with Luka and Davis Bertans.”
Sharpe and the Lakers had the last laugh in that mini-rivalry, as the Grizzlies went up against the Lakers in the first round of the Western Conference Playoffs. That ended poorly for the Grizzlies, who were beaten in six games by the seventh-seeded Lakers.
It’ll be hilarious to see Sharpe back courtside for a game between the teams again, but the Grizzlies have fallen off considerably from where they were last season. Ja Morant is serving a 25-game suspension and the first 17 games with Morant gone have led to only four wins for the Grizzlies.
