LeBron James showcased his playful side during the Los Angeles Lakers’ dominant 134-107 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies in the NBA In-Season Tournament. Known for his intensity on the court, James couldn’t help but mock Jaren Jackson Jr.’s dramatic fall after defending him in the post. Following a physical play where James pushed Jackson, the Grizzlies’ star fell theatrically to the ground, prompting LeBron’s amusement.

In a moment captured on the court, LeBron could be heard saying:

“All that, all that. I really threw you to the ground like that J Jack.”

The light-hearted jab reflected James’ amusement at Jackson’s exaggerated reaction, showcasing the camaraderie and banter that often unfold during NBA games.

Meanwhile, the Lakers secured their third consecutive victory, with D’Angelo Russell leading the way with 24 points, supported by Anthony Davis‘ double-double performance. LeBron James contributed 16 points and nine rebounds in just 23 minutes of play, highlighting the team’s depth and efficiency.

While LeBron’s on-court intensity is well-documented, his ability to inject humor and camaraderie, even in the midst of competition, adds a unique dimension to his leadership and presence on the court.

The Lakers Solved Their Shooting And Rebounding Problems

The Los Angeles Lakers showcased a remarkable turnaround in their shooting and rebounding performance during their decisive 134-107 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies. In the first 10 games of the season, the Lakers had grappled with shooting struggles, but against the Grizzlies, they made an impressive 58% of their shots, signifying a significant improvement in offensive efficiency.

Notably, the Lakers equaled a franchise record by connecting on 22 three-pointers, with D’Angelo Russell leading the charge by sinking six of them. This prolific three-point shooting display not only addressed their previous shooting woes but also added a potent weapon to their offensive arsenal.

In addition to the shooting clinic, the Lakers dominated the boards, outrebounding the Grizzlies 54-33. This marked a substantial improvement in their rebounding efforts, addressing a crucial area of concern for the team.

Austin Reaves played a pivotal role in the victory, contributing four three-pointers along with an impressive stat line of 16 points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists. The collective success in shooting and rebounding showcased the Lakers’ ability to adapt and overcome early-season challenges, providing a glimpse of their potential when operating at peak efficiency.

The Grizzlies Lose Another Point Guard To Injury

The Memphis Grizzlies, already grappling with the absence of Derrick Rose and the suspension of Ja Morant, faced another setback as point guard Marcus Smart suffered a left ankle injury during their game against the Los Angeles Lakers. Smart was visibly in pain and had to be assisted off the court by his teammates, unable to put any weight on his left leg. The injury occurred when Smart landed on the foot of Lakers player Austin Reaves.

With Derrick Rose sidelined due to injury and Ja Morant serving a suspension, Smart’s injury further depletes the Grizzlies’ backcourt depth. The team, currently holding a 2-9 record, finds itself at the bottom of the Western Conference standings. The absence of key players and a string of injuries have put the Grizzlies in a challenging position, sitting 2.5 games behind the 10th spot for a potential play-in tournament berth.

As Morant is set to miss more games due to suspension, the Grizzlies face an uphill battle to overcome their early-season struggles and remain competitive in a highly competitive Western Conference.
