Jordan Poole’s time with the Washington Wizards has already generated plenty of lowlights and a recent video that went viral on social media has made matters worse. During a timeout in their game against the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday, Poole could be seen ignoring his head coach Wes Unseld Jr.’s instructions during a timeout.

Even the assistant coach and his teammates telling him to pay attention didn’t seem to affect Poole in any way. You could also very clearly make out him saying that this is his team, and this is not the kind of attitude you want to see in a player.
Once the huddle was about to break, he got a little serious but wasn’t able to get what play Unseld had drawn up, as he kept trying afterward to check what it was. The Wizards have been a total mess this season and incidents like this one might explain why.
NBA Fans Blasted Jordan Poole
NBA fans were not happy, to say the least, to see Poole being so casual and disinterested here. They blasted him for this incident.
One now understands why the Golden State Warriors traded Poole.

At this point, this Wizards season does seem headed toward disaster. I expected this team to win close to 30 games, but that was a great overestimation on my part. They lost 104-92 to the Nets here, with Poole recording 14 points, 2 rebounds, and 6 assists.
The Wizards followed up that loss by blowing a 23-point lead on Monday night to lose 111-107 to the Toronto Raptors. They are now 2-8 on the season and are set to be in the mix for the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.
Jordan Poole’s Disastrous Start With The Wizards
The trade to the Wizards was supposed to help Poole in many ways. He was going to get a much bigger role than the one he had with the Warriors and the Draymond cloud was getting lifted as well.
You’d have thought the 24-year-old would shine in his new surroundings, but he has been terrible. So far, he is averaging 16.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.3 steals, and 0.6 blocks per game, while shooting 41.2% from the field and 30.3% from beyond the arc.
It is not the perfect stat by any means, but Poole has the lowest plus-minus in the league right now at -131, and here’s a breakdown of it and his shooting.
7-18 FG vs. Indiana Pacers (-12)
8-23 FG vs. Memphis Grizzlies (+13)
5-11 FG vs. Boston Celtics (-29)
5-13 FG vs. Atlanta Hawks (-22)
8-14 FG vs. Miami Heat (-21)
8-15 FG vs. Philadelphia 76ers (-4)
3-12 FG vs. Charlotte Hornets (-5)
6-14 FG vs. Charlotte Hornets (-17)
5-12 FG vs. Brooklyn Nets (-22)
6-16 FG vs. Toronto Raptors (-12)
You may excuse some poor performances if a player was giving absolutely everything on the court, but he just isn’t. Last month, Poole attempted a nonchalant three-pointer over Kristaps Porzingis and got destroyed by NBA fans.
He’s just been terrible all around and the Warriors no longer seem crazy for trading him for Chris Paul. They could no longer deal with this kind of attitude from Poole and the Draymond incident gave them a convenient excuse as well.
