MiLaysia Fulwiley pulled off a spectacular move in the NCAA Women’s College basketball game between South Carolina and Notre Dame on Monday. It was so great, that Magic Johnson claimed it was the best move in all of basketball.

“I’m watching the women’s basketball game between South Carolina and Notre Dame right now and I just saw the best move in all of basketball including the pros like LeBron, Steph, KD, Victor, and Jokic. Everyone must see the coast-to-coast, behind-the-back move by freshman guard MiLaysia Fulwiley from South Carolina. WOW!!”

You can check out the mesmerizing sequence down below.

That was indeed special from Fulwiley. While some might call it hyperbole from the 64-year-old Johnson, and point to some of the plays made by the likes of LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant, I’d say appreciate what we saw from Fulwiley. She also shared with ESPN what was going through her mind as she dribbled the ball up the court.

“[The opposing defender] looked like she was confused whether to pick me up or not pick me up,” Fulwiley told ESPN.

“So I was just like ‘all right.’ I just felt like I was in high school, and that was my favorite move when I was in high school, so I just did it. Then I saw the defender coming up and so I had to fake like I was dishing it to Kamilla [Cardoso] because she was being dominant and then I just laid it up.”

Fulwiley would shine in her first game for South Carolina, finishing with 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 steals as they beat Notre Dame 100-71. It was the first-ever college basketball game played in Paris, France and it’s safe to say it ended up being a very memorable one.

Johnson wasn’t the only all-time great watching the action unfold either, as Durant also praised Fulwiley and Hannah Hidalgo, who had 31 points.

“Hidalgo and Fulwiley moving DIFFERENT out here, turn on ESPN.”

Durant has been a huge supporter of women’s basketball and it was great to see him urging more people to tune in. It was quite a way to get the women’s college basketball season underway, and I hope we get many more memorable moments like this out of it.

Who Is MiLaysia Fulwiley?

Fulwiley is a native of Columbia, South Carolina, and made a name for herself at WJ Keenan High School. She won four state titles in six years on their varsity team and would average 24.8 points, 6.1 assists, 7.0 rebounds, 5.5 steals, and 1.8 blocks per game during her high school career.

She graduated this year as the program’s all-time leading scorer and earned an All-America nod as a senior as well. Fulwiley ended up being the No. 13 recruit in the class and looks set to have a very bright future. The 5’10” guard had been termed as “generational” by Gamecocks head coach Dawn Staley, and she made quite an impression on the basketball world in her first game on the big stage.
