Devin Booker Clowns His Former Teammates For Not Exchanging Jerseys Properly

After the Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks faced off on Monday night, former teammates Mikal Bridges and Cam Payne came together for a jersey swap. There was just one problem, though, the two failed to actually swap jerseys before taking a picture, and their former teammate Devin Booker roasted them for it.

“I don’t think it work like that.”

Now obviously, it should be Bridges holding Payne’s jersey and vice versa but for some reason, the two seemed to have forgotten how it works. Perhaps with the game being so tight, as the Bucks narrowly won 129-125, the two were still thinking about the action that had unfolded. Whatever the case, Booker certainly isn’t going to let them forget about it for a very long time.

These three were, of course, part of the Suns team that made it all the way to the NBA Finals in 2021. They then helped Phoenix win a franchise-best 64 games in the 2021-22 season.

Failure to win the title in that time, though, led to the Suns trading Bridges in a package for Kevin Durant last season. Bridges would go on to shine for the Nets in 2022-23 and in this campaign, is averaging 21.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.4 blocks per game.

Payne, meanwhile, was traded to the San Antonio Spurs this offseason after which he was waived. The Bucks signed him as a free agent and he’s been a decent addition, averaging 5.7 points, and 1.0 assists per game off the bench.

Devin Booker Is Now The Only Player Left From The 2021 Finals Team

The Suns are the perfect example of just how quickly things can change in the NBA. You wouldn’t think that a team that made it to the NBA Finals would look almost completely different just two years later, but they do, as Booker is the only one still on the team.

Along with Bridges, Cam Johnson and Jae Crowder had also departed in the Durant trade earlier this year. Two other big names were then traded away this offseason, as Chris Paul was sent to the Washington Wizards while Deandre Ayton was shipped to the Portland Trail Blazers.

All of their role players have moved as well in that time, with Dario Saric now on the Golden State Warriors, while Jevon Carter and Torrey Craig are now on the Chicago Bulls, to name a few. Continuity is often key to success in the NBA, and we’ll soon find out if this approach from the Suns will work out.

Booker will be key to any success they do have. The 27-year-old has averaged 31.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 10.5 assists, and 0.5 steals per game this season. The problem, though, is that he has only played two games due to injury and the Suns would be hoping the injury bug goes away as the season progresses.

Devin Booker Shared His All-Time Starting Five

Like so many other stars before him have, Booker also shared his all-time starting five last month. It included his teammate Durant, along with LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, and Hakeem Olajuwon.

We usually see some questionable selections from players on these things and Durant was the one here, but Booker was obviously a little bit biased. The 35-year-old is still an all-time great, of course, and the rest of the lineup looks very good too. You’d have a hard time coming up with a starting five that can beat Booker’s.
