The wife of LA Lakers forward Taurean Prince, Hanah Usman, has shared a powerful message on Instagram regarding the Israel-Palestine war. She reposted a message from IG user @damalmawad that urges people to understand that supporting the people of Palestine isn’t the same as supporting Hamas.
“You can support the Palestinians and their right to end occupation and not support Hamas. You can be an advocate of Palestinians’ rights and not endorse Hezbollah or Iran’s regime. You can be pro-Palestinian without being anti-Semitic.”

Usman had publicly supported Palestine already as the violence escalated a few days ago. As NBA teams and the league itself rushed to issue messages condemning violence and supporting Israel, Prince’s wife has taken a stance not many people in the public eye have.
It’s important to side with peace before everything, as Kyrie Irving elected to do. But what Usman has shared is commendable, as it seeks to help the citizens of Palestine who have been deprived for decades.
Who Is Hanah Usman?
Hanah Usman is the longterm partner of new Lakers’ signee Taurean Prince. She has been seen before at games supporting Prince, who has played for five NBA franchises. The pair have three children together, with the youngest being born in August 2022.
It’s clear that she usually lives her life without making headlines about her actions. She has an active Instagram page, where she has taken action to share information to sympathize people with the Palestinian cause. People should have the strength to speak out when they feel strongly about something, and it’s clear that Usman isn’t going to shy away from letting her thoughts be known.
Prince is expected to be a key rotation player for the Lakers this season. He joined in free agency after a season with the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he averaged 9.1 points and 2.4 rebounds.
Given Prince started for the Lakers in his preseason debut against the Brooklyn Nets, it’s clear Darvin Ham envisions a big role for the 3-and-D wing specialist. Prince’s versatility across the frontcourt will be extremely valuable for the Lakers.
Kyrie Irving Has Shared His Thoughts On The War
Not everyone from the NBA world is resorting to PR statements to let their feelings about this conflict known. Kyrie Irving is known to use his voice as he sees fit, sharing posts on social media condemning the violence a few days ago. He urged for peace in the region, clearly hurting for the children who have been caught up in the violence.
“My Heart mourns for all of the innocent lives lost in the crossfires of War. GOD never intended for Humanity to destroy one another. Chief Hélà.”
He shared another post on X an hour ago where he seemed to take pointed shots at major media houses for their biased coverage of the matter.
“Where are all you tough-talking Media Heads that get on TV and social platforms to condemn people who stand by the oppressed?? Crimes are being committed against humanity and most of you are silent. Cat got your tongue? Or you’re afraid of actually standing for something real?”

As happens with all major international conflict stories, the media will begin to move on from it after making it the biggest topic for the short term. None of the deliberation on whose on which side will end the war any faster, so praying for peace is the best we can do.
