Chet Holmgren is not too happy about Victor Wembanyama flexing after scoring on him, as he responded to the flexing clip that has gone viral on X by calling him out for a headbutt.
“The headbutt is an unstoppable move fasho.”

If you watch closely, it is very clear that Wembanyama’s head struck Holmgren on the chin. The Oklahoma City Thunder big man lay on the floor holding his chin for a while, and I don’t blame him for being a bit annoyed by the whole situation.
As for how the two giants performed on the court, they didn’t disappoint. There was a lot of hype surrounding this game, and it was a close run thing, with the Thunder narrowly beating the San Antonio Spurs 122-121.
Holmgren had 21 points, 9 rebounds, an assist, and a block, while shooting 7-10 from the field, 2-2 from beyond the arc, and 7-7 from the free throw line in the contest.
Wembanyama, meanwhile, had 20 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals, and a block. He shot 8-13 from the field, 2-5 from three, and 2-3 from the line, but did have 4 turnovers.
Chet Holmgren Spoke About The Matchup With Victor Wembanyama
The matchup between the two was the focus before, during, and after the game. When Holmgren was asked about it during his post-game interview, he stressed the focus should be on the teams, not the players.
Chet Holmgren on the matchup with Victor Wembanyama: “I feel like Vic and myself did a good job of: it’s not the Vic vs Chet Show.”
Chet says it was Thunder vs Spurs and that’s what it was about to him. And he’s sure Victor felt the same way.

I’d say it turned into the Vic vs. Chet show just because of how good the two of them were. They weren’t trying to go out there to make a statement or whatever but just played the way they normally do, and it was incredible to watch.
NBA fans were highly impressed by this Wembanyama-Holmgren matchup, and here’s hoping we get to see these two face off against each other for over a decade. This might just have been the beginning of one of the finest rivalries that the league has seen.
As for this first meeting on the NBA stage, I’d say it was really a wash. While the Thunder won, I don’t think one of them looked a lot better than the other. Wembanyama showed why he is regarded as a generational talent, but Holmgren had more than his fair share of incredible moments.
Paul George Thinks Chet Holmgren Will Win Rookie Of The Year
It seemed like a foregone conclusion at one point that Wembanyama would win Rookie of the Year. As time has gone by, though, Holmgren has started to receive more and more buzz for ROTY.
Paul George, for one, has picked Holmgren over Wembanyama to win Rookie of the Year, and he made some good points. George pointed to the Thunder being in position to win a lot of games this season and that Holmgren has spent a year in the league, having been selected with the second pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.
He missed what should have been his rookie season due to injury and while nothing beats playing actual games, he’d have learned a lot during his time on the sidelines. I think it will probably come down to these two in the end for the award, and I predict Wembanyama will just about win it.
