Superstar Kawhi Leonard is one of the top superstars in the league when he’s healthy and clearly the best player on the Los Angeles Clippers. However, many people believe that Leonard doesn’t conduct himself as a superstar: in fact, a lot of people have claimed that he has a “robot” personality.

Paul George recently clapped back at people who suggest Kawhi Leonard is robotic, claiming that his co-star is a “funny dude”.

“People don’t realize like he is as normal as possible and he’s a funny dude and he’s charismatic and he has a personality. I don’t know why people think he’s a robot.”

There is no doubt that players’ personalities aren’t always exactly what they display to media members. By all accounts, Kawhi Leonard is a personable player who is loved by his teammates, and players shouldn’t be obligated to do anything beyond their professional obligations with media members.

This past season, Kawhi Leonard averaged 23.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game for the Clippers while shooting 41.6% from 3PT range. All he needs to do for the Clippers is stay healthy, and we’ll see what this season looks like for him.

Kawhi Leonard Recently Commented On His Extension Talks With The Los Angeles Clippers

As of right now, it is unclear if Kawhi Leonard will remain with the Los Angeles Clippers long term. He could become a free agent in 2024 if he declines his player option, and as of right now, there has been no extension offer from the franchise. However, Kawhi Leonard recently provided an update on his extension talks with the Clippers, noting that he and the team are “good”.

“We’re good. I came here in 2019 to be a Clipper. Me and the front office are good… It hasn’t been nothing that we’ve rushed on their side or my side.”

If Leonard has a healthy season, it is quite likely that the Clippers will offer him a big time extension. The key for Leonard has always been availability, and his talent was never in question. Hopefully, we see a fully healthy regular season from the forward, as well as a dominant playoff run.

Kawhi Leonard Has Endured A Lot Of Criticism

There has been a lot of frustration about Kawhi Leonard from fans and analysts since his move to the Clippers in 2019. In fact, Stephen A. Smith called Leonard the absolute worst superstar a team can have.

“Kawhi Leonard is the absolute worst superstar that a team can have… If Kawhi Leonard was healthy and could stay healthy, the Clippers could win it all.”

“He’s missed 48 percent of his games since he has arrived in Los Angeles. He’s missed 147 out of 308 games, that’s 48 percent of his regular-season games. 48 percent. He can’t even talk for his own damn endorsement deals. He does absolutely nothing to market the sport.”

Hopefully, we see Leonard show out next season and prove the haters wrong. All the negative narratives around him will continue until he and the Clippers find success on the basketball court.

If Leonard does manage to win a championship with the Clippers, then the story will change quickly. He will forever be a legend in Los Angeles, and we’ll see if he manages to get a ring in the future.
