A trade to the Bucks was not what Damian Lillard had in mind when he requested out of the Trail Blazers this past summer. But after weeks of failed negotiations with the Heat, Portland pulled the trigger on a three-team agreement that landed the 7x All-Star in Milwaukee to pair with the Greek Freak himself.

Despite the Trail Blazers going against his wishes, Lillard did not seem angry or upset about his new situation In fact, in a short message on X, he revealed his initial reaction to the big trade. “The casuals won’t be addressed but the Trail Blazers fans and city of Portland that I love truly will be,” said Lillard. “And they will be addressed truthfully. Stay tuned Excited for my next chapter!”

Excited for my next chapter! @Bucks 🎟️

Milwaukee was obviously not on Lillard’s list of desirable landing spots, but he seems to be embracing his new reality and it’s not hard to see why he’d be excited. In 11 years with the Blazers, Lillard rarely advanced deep into the playoffs. But with the Bucks, alongside Antetokounmpo, he’s got the best chance of his entire career to win a ring. As for his relationship with Portland, we can probably expect some deep and personal goodbye from Lillard over the next few days but it won’t be long before he’s on the court competing with his new teammates.

Damian Lillard Can Dominate With The Bucks

Last season, the Bucks finished with the NBA’s best record and they were considered the title favorites up until their shocking first-round loss to the Heat. Even with Jrue Holiday, Brook Lopez, and Khris Middleton, the Bucks seemingly ran out of juice in the end and their offense failed to step up when the stakes were highest. They lost in just five games to the Heat, and it forced the team to ask some tough questions over the summer.

The arrival of Dame, however, changes everything. With career averages of 25.2 points, 6.7 assists, and 4.8 rebounds per game on 46% shooting, he’s got the talent experience, and cache to make a major difference for the Bucks. Between his perimeter shooting ability and the interior dominance of Giannis, it’s going to be epic watching the duo figure things out over the course of the season. At their best, this Bucks team may even become a true NBA dynasty.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Isn’t Going Anywhere

In the aftermath of the Bucks’ playoff disappointment, Giannis made some questionable comments about his basketball future. Speaking to the media, Giannis expressed a desire to win at all costs, even if he had to leave the Bucks to get it done.

Obviously, this put some major pressure on the front office to prove to their star that they can still win when it counts, and this latest move is proof that they will do whatever it takes to keep Giannis happy. Now, with Dame and the Greek Freak together, there is nothing stopping the Bucks from going on a historic title run.

The question is, will they have enough to compete with teams like the Nuggets, Lakers, and Celtics? On paper, the Bucks can beat any team in the league but it could take some time before the Bucks find their rhythm. In the meantime, teams across the association are going to respond in their own way, and it’ll be interesting to see what they do in an attempt to match the latest power move in Milwaukee.
